Question about Computers & Internet
From use the usb part that connects to the computer is loose so therefore when my daughter plugged it in there was no activity. Is there any way to get it fixed just to get her data from it?
How important is the data?
You may want to take it to a repair shop if is her doctoral dissertation, if not you can try to fix it yourself.
First , you will have to dissassemble it to expose the board and connector.
Check to see it the board is cracked.
If not , just try to resolder the connector (silver part) back to the board.
Of course , examine the connector first to verify it is in good shape, no broken pins , etc.
It should work at that point , if not , or the board is cracked you will need to find the same make and model USB stick (try ebay) and replace the chip with the data on it , the big square or rectangular one, with the one from the donor drive.
The soldering for that is a bit more daunting but can be done with some inexpensive parts from your local radio shack. Just remember never to leave the iron on the board for more than 5 seconds. Good luck.
