Question about Uniden BC92XLT Handheld Scanner

1 Answer

AC Adaptor I have just purchased this scanner from the US (Cheaper !!!) and it has yet to be delivered, but in anticipation, it will be supplied with a power adapter but with an american plug.....will it be safe to use through a basic non-power adjusting plug adapter here in the uk. Is the power lead capable of operating at both 120 and 240 ie american and british power.

I was curious, if i put my 2055 scanner on 12 volts, instead of the required 13 volts, will it hurt it?

You won't damage anything with 12 volts. Equipment built for use in automobiles will often have a DC input marked 13.8 volts because it's the voltage delivered by a fully-charged battery. But any supply around 12 volts will work. Just be sure the supply has enough current available (around an amp should be fine for a scanner), and that you get the polarity right when connecting it.

My scanner bc350a will not turn on was working is there a fuse somewhere inside of the unit

There's a fuse in line with the DC (vehicle) cord, but none for AC power operation. Check the power supply with a voltmeter to be sure it's outputting power to the scanner (As a alternate, check the unit on vehicle power). If there's no output you can purchase a replacement power supply from Uniden on line of from other sources - such as eBay. If the power supply is outputting power, but the scanner is still not working, your problem could be the power connection at the scanner (internal or external), the power switch, or a myriad of other problems.

Ranger 2995DX

In most cases I have been able to replace a capacitor associated with the power supply, it fails when the voltage is pulled down during transmit. You're more than welcome to ship it in here.

Where do I find a replacement power supply for my bc350 scanner?

The original power supply for your BC350C, Uniden part number AD-140U, has been discontinued, but you can purchase a new one by following this link to eBay:

Uniden has designated a replacement for the AC supply, but the new unit, part number BADG0845001, is backorderd. If you prefer to purchase this unit, you can place yourself on a waiting list by following this link:

I have a Radio Shack Pro 433 and the plug on the back on the radio for 12 volts is dead.Where it possible find a New One... Vincent

Sounds like your AC power supply (wall wart) is dead. You can purchase one directly from Radio Shack (they may have to order it) just by telling them it's for the 433. You can also purchase a compatible power supply from (Uniden made the 433 for Radio Shack), or you can find one on eBay. The output specifications for the power supply are 12VDC, 500mA minimum, center (tip) positive.

If this response helps, please take a moment to post a rating for me. "Very Helpful" would be appreciated.

The BC72XLT is a USA model scanner, while the UBC73XLT is produced for Australia and New Zealand. The two are very similar, but not identical. There is a slight difference in frequency coverage (it's a bit wider on the UBC), the BC comes with a 110-volt AC power supply (wall-wart) for USA use, while the UBC comes with a 12-volt DC vehicle power supply.

FYI, here are links to the operating manuals for both models:

Battery holder for Pro 95 scanner

Your pro 95 takes the same yellow rechargable battery pack as the pro 97. It is available at the site listing below. It is their #100-006. It cost 5.99 plus 10.95 shipping. I ordered it 4 days ago and got it two days ago. You may be able to save on shipping by calling them and requesting some sort of slower shipping.

Screen went blank

Sounds like you fried something by reversing the polarity. Repair will likely be expensive, but check with the manufacturer to find out if they have a flat-rate service charge, if so they will most likely replace it with a refurbished scanner.

I presume you mean the power adaptor.... considering the price of a scanner please make sure you have the exact voltage/amperage for it.
