Question about Cameras

Olympus C8080 Camera

I received my camera for Christmas 2004.  In July 2007 suddenly nothing happened when I push the shutter button.  It depresses but does not take a picture nor does it give the settings on my screen.  I may have inadvertently presssed one of the buttons on the left side of the camera but can't find my manual to check that out.  A person very knowlegeable in cameras looked at it for me but was unable to find a solution.  The top line of the viewscreen says " P 1/2 F2.4 00"  The "1/2" shifts to other fractions as I move the camera around.  On manual setting instead of "00" at the end of the string it says "-3.0" in red letters.  The second line from the bottom says "[CF] and the bottom line "HQ 3264X2448 497"

11/4/07 - I found my manual but was unable to find anything about the shutter button being inoperable. The websites suggested were very interesting but I did not find a solution. Unfortunately, I think my camera is smarter than I am!

This camera is somewhere between fifteen and thirty years old. It is highly unlikely that spares would be available, and it would be extremely expensive to have it repaired in any case, most artificers familiar with the internal layout having probably retired years ago. Maybe the camera should be retired too ?

Blurred Images with Olympus E520

When operating any digital camera, the camera tries to capture the best focus and exposure for that particular scene. By pressing the shutter button half-way down, the focus and exposure is being set. There will be a green circle on the upper left hand corner of the screen, then your camera is ready to take the picture. Slowly depress the shutter the rest of the way down to take the picture.

My olympus FE-340 does not start in shooting mode

That is how the camera is supposed to function. When the shutter button is depressed it automatically assumes you want the camera to be in shooting mode to take images.

Is there a way that I could PAUSE and CONTINUE?

The camera does not have a pause feature when shooting movie clips. You depress the shutter button to start the movie and then depress the shutter button to stop the movie.

Olympus C5050

That's a crying shame.  I believe that spares are no longer available for this unit (which is, IMHO, one of the very best prosumer digitals ever built).
Your best bets would be to take it to a local camera service center, or, to look on eBay for a used C5050 or C8080 (8MP with most of the same capabilities and some improvements, but, not quite as good an aperture) for a very reasonable price in good condition.
I know that's less than ideal, but, after a great deal of research on a similar problem with my C5050, that's where I ended up.
