BLUE UPPER ARCH ON SAMSUNG TV

HELLO, I HAVE A BLUE ARCH ON THE UPPER PART OF THE TELEVISION & SOMETIMES A MIRROR IMAGE OF WHAT I AM WATCHING. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS IS A CONVERGENCE PROBLEM? IF SO, I AM TOLD THAT THE BOARD NEEDS TO BE CHANGED, IS THAT TRUE? THE REPAIR MAN IS ASKING FOR 400.00$ DOES THE BOARD ONLY NEED TO BE CHANGED? DO YOU THINK IT IS POSSIBLE I DO THIS ON MY OWN BY OPENING THE TV AND REPLACING THE BOARD?

Hi Huet,

You may have a misalignment problem with the projector.  When you open the back up, you may want to tinker with the adjustment of the Projector alignment to see if you can get the blue arc to go away.

Also if it is your Convergence circuit, Get the numbers off the board and go to www.partstore.com to see if they have a good deal on your circuit board.

    Hi Huet,

Have your tried to adjust the projector like I said earlier?  If you have tried to adjust the Blue convergence and got it better, then come back to watch and the Blue goes out again, you most likely have a covergence circuit problem.  I cannot tell whether it is focus alignment or Blue convergence with what little I know about Projection TV's,  I have had success in getting my project tv better with adjusting the Projector.

    Hi Huet,

Did you possibly read on in the manual to pages 26, and 27 to see the centering and edge alignment adjustments?  If so check out the expert "Hardroc's" solution for projection TV convergence.

Normally, the convergence circuit is repaired on the board in

need.Board replacement is usually more expensive than 400.00.

Blue convergence IC is bad. Replace both IC's for reliable, long lasting repair.Use OEM quality or better parts--I use Panasonic

STK-392-040 with good success.Repair bill about 495.00.

Red dots going across screen when watching TV is this worth fixing and how much would it cost? approx. 5-6 years old.

This tv is a DLP one - the image is created in a special chip with tiny mirrors on it; each mirror is commanded individually by an image processor that in your tv is starting to fail.
The replacement of the mainboard on which this processor is soldered would cost you about $300 - i don;t think the tv is worth as much. Keep using it for as long as you can and use this time to save for a new one.
