Question about Printers & Copiers
I own a Xerox 214 digital copier. When copying a single sheet on the glass, the paper sucks up into the cartridge and starts coming out like it should. However as it passes thru only 2 inches of the page is copied and then the machine stops. It displays a U9 code. I have opened the left door and cleared the paper out. I have tried to copy 3 times by powering the machine off and starting it up again to clear the code. Each time I get the same result (only 2 inches copied).
What can I do? Is there a timing issues in the gears?
1. Remove the copy cartridge and clean all the contacts on the cartridge and the ones inside the machine. Just look around for the contacts once you remove the cartridge.
2. when you open the right side drawyer, where the paper exits the machine, there is a silver strip, with what look like little saw tooth shaped cutouts. See if that is dirty, has a lot of black toner on it. Use a BRUSH, a soft brush, like a paint brush and clean that strip throughly. That toner builds up on that strip and arcs. Causing that U9 Shutdown you are having headaches with.

Try removing the glass, and clean the mirrors with a lint free clothe. Also check to make sure the toner cartridge is seated corrected inside
