- Server's onboard video is working just fine. We need to add a graphic card to capture video from surveilance. We have tried nVidia and Matrox cards. We've tried changing video modes in the BIOS too.

- We have a X3400 server (7975-I4S) and we are trying to use Fx5600 card on it.
what happened to the server's onboard video? does the integrated video still work? What cards have you tried, and have you changed video modes in the BIOS?
What type of card are you trying to install? Which slot have you tried it in? IBM servers have designated slots for specific card types like video adapters and RAID controllers. What's the exact model of your server (e.g. 8647-4AX) and what models of video cards do you have?

- is that a Quadro FX5600 or a GeForce FX5600 (they make both) and what type of bus slot is the video card?

- Sorry, I wasn't able to find any useful documentation or support articles that show where the add-on video adapter should go. I wasn't able to find much documentation about add-on video cards at all. IBM says that add on cards are supported, but provide no documentation for doing so. My two recommendations would be
1. Insert the PCI Express video card into the highest available slot, go into the BIOS and set the video priority to the PCIe slot instead of onboard.
2. Call IBM support and ask them. Since the server is new and has a 1-3 year warranty, they should be able to quickly tell you what to do... or they'll tell you that you can't.
Can you install Windows 2008 STD Server on this poweredge 700 series. I have not been able to get it...
