On a computer that is plugged into the router,Open internet explorer and type 192.168.1.1 when the login box opens Type Admin in user and Admin in password,When router page open,Click wire tab and turn on wireless radio,It will say the router is now accepting connections,With the computer you are trying to get wireless on,Search for wireless signal,When it find the signal click connect,Go back to the router page and Click Save.You can also set up your security while in the router page but everything you put in must be the same that you later use on the wireless computer to connect. For example if you set the security to WEP and the password to 12345,when you try to connect it will ask for the WEP key and you will need to enter the 12345

What model access point are you trying to get it to connect to?
On the EOC-1650, go to the Wireless Network page and click the Site Survey button. This should show you all the APs that are visible to the unit. If you don't see any, either the radio in your 1650 is blown, or your AP isn't set up correctly (to determine which, get close to your AP with your PC and see if it shows up on your PC's wireless screen). If you do see the AP, click the BSSID value to attempt to connect to the AP. The error message, if any, will tell you where to look for your connection problem (password, encryption type, etc.)

low signal strength only comes from 2 things, range, and interference. if you are close to your access point then you have something causing interference in the signal "line of sight". things such as metal, electronics wires, power cables all give off electromagnetic interference and you should try and keep as many of these things away from your "line of sight" as possible as radio waves have a harder time going through them

Linksys N router drops signal

Its not dropping you because of the spectrums, it works on line of sight. If you are in a basement and your router is upstairs it has to go thru a floor and the strength is weakened. Go into your router and increase the signal strength. But you have to mod your firmware.

Site survey no signal

Site Survey is meaningful only in bridge mode, not access point mode. Assuming you are operating this unit in bridge mode, it could be possible that no signal is being detected because there are no access points nearby for it to detect. If you know that there are, in fact, working access points in the vicinity, then my first suspicion is that you have a faulty unit.

Enter the configuration utility inside the unit and run a signal survey. If the survey does not detect any access points, your radio section has gone bad. If it does detect the appropriate access point, examine the signal and noise numbers associated with the access point. For a reliable connection, there should be a difference of at least 18 between the two figures.

Confirguration

Hi,

After installing the hardware and physical mounting, basic configuration is something like below:

1. Set your computers TCP/IP address temporarily to be a static IP address such as 192.168.1.5;
2. Open your browser and type in 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. The EnGenius password prompt should appear. The default user is admin and the password is also admin. The control interface should now be accessible;
3. Under the Wireless heading click on Site Survey. This will display all the access points in your area. Your ISP or to whatever WiFi network you would want to connect should be listed in the ‘Wireless Site Survey’. Select the access point with the highest signal level or your choice. Click ‘Connect’;
4. After clicking ‘connect’, it should confirm that the EnGenius has connected successfully;
5. Click Ok and it will take you back to the list of wireless site surveys;
6. To confirm that the SSID has been changed go to the ‘Wireless Basic Settings’ page which is in the Wireless submenu in the left side bar. Once on the wireless page go to the box with SSID. The value should read "Your ISP or the WiFi network you would want to connect"; this has to be exact and case-sensitive to connect successfully.

This is just the start, all settings are configurable and actually depends as to how you would want to use the device; as a WiFi Access Point, as a client router mode or Wireless outdoor bridges in WDS mode.

After all settings have been changed to your requirement(s), go back to the PC's control panel and your network connections, and change your TCP/IP address back to DHCP settings (obtaining an IP address automatically). panel window.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Intel 2915AB Connection problem

Intermittent disconnection issues on a radio/wireless network will generally be caused by interferance (speakers, power board fully loaded, High wattage Lamp (flourescent bulbs usually) all parked too close to the wireless router, access point or network card. or possibly due to interuption of the active signal possibly because the distance of the router and network card/access point is just on the edge of the best signal limit and disruption occurs when someone or something gets up and moves itself inbetween the two service points)I resolved my disconnection issues by purchasing a wireless Kite for the access point and router, which will intensify the radio signal and bring the access points within closer range of each other, friends of mine have resolved intermittent signal issues by making a thin tube of rolled tinfoil about 30cm long slipped over each aerial affected by the intermittent signal disconnection. Also verify the "line of sight and non line of sight" signal distance limits for your radio equipment as the signal distance will decrease depending on the age of your wireless equipment, most equipment is in the 30Ft non line of sight- 100Ft line of sight arena out of the box but you can expect to half this figure after 3 - 5 years of continued use. Basically three options Interferance, Interupption or age only distance testing will verify this accurately IE: bring the router and access point withing 1Ft of each other and start walking away still holding the access point, whilst a user monitors the radio network condition.
