Question about 2wire 2700HG-B Router (2700HGB)
I have a new computer and my Qwest cd is missing! I need to install this router. I have tried everything that I can find to install it, however, when I go to configure it says that the key is wrong. I don't know if the insall I did was for vista or not as I installed one that was for xp and had to reinstall. Please advise as 2Wire won't give me any help on finding the download and Qwest is just about as good as 2Wire. Thanks!!
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

try to uninstall/remove the old driver and reinstal the latest driver of your linksys usb adapter. you can download it from the linksys website.
check again if you can get a wireless connection from the router to your 98pc. if not try to change the wireless channel of the 2wire to channel 1 and configure the wireless security again using the linksys usb wireless utility
if you still cant get a connection try to manually assign this ip address on the 98pc then check connection afterward.
IP add: 192.168.0.5
dns: dns number of the 2wire router
if you still cant get a connection after this try to install the wireless usb adapter to a diff computer to further isolate the problem.

The drivers are located on the 2wire website. You need to go to support > downloads > Gateways > 100/1000. Those drivers will work for any 2wire gateway that has USB.

SOURCE: 2Wire router
I had a similar problem, but instead of no connection, our connection kep dropping. We were about 100feet from the router, using a Belkin USB wireless adapter on a desktop running XP. I went into the router, changed the power setting dropdown from 6(default) to 10 and when I hit save, the connection status lit up super fast and has stayed in "excellent" for a few days now! YES!
