First things first .....check for power cable and data cable and make sure they are not tampered or damaged now move to next step>>>
kindly remove all jumpers in HDD now go to
Control panel>Administrative tool>Computer management>Disk management
you can see the disk here and change settings accordingly like assigning path and drive letter if this does not work
then just see that is it recognized in device manager as unrecognized device then update driver for HDD even now if the problem persists
KIndly consult the manufacturer

Thanks And Regards

I need the drivers a western digital sata 160 g hard drive model wd1600aabb for the xp platform please!!! can anyone help?

There are no such drivers....sata hard drives use windows drivers...if the computer is asking for drivers for a hard drive, then it is seeking drivers within windows...which means there could be corruption in those windows drivers that the WD HDD needs. Try going to windows update, let it load and check for updates and instead of hitting express, hit custom and look in the left hand pane for hardware updates and see if the drivers for a hard drive would be there. WD only offers Firmware updates and software for its HDD's.

Yuck! Soyo filed for bankruptcy in May and their website is gone!
You need to enable the SATA in the rom bios AND install the drivers for it; but, I hope you have the manual and the CD.

Check to make sure you used a SATA hdd & not a SATA II hdd for your replacement. Usually these are not backwards compatible. Hope this helps.

HOW TO CHANGE 320GB SATA HDD TO 500GB SATA

Yes. The case doesn't care what size the drive is. The computer is just asking for the USB driver for the case. Check the WD site for the driver for the model of MyBook that you have. That should cover it.

SATA HDD

you need to install the drivers for it when loading windows,,
you are on the right track by pressing F6 however you need to have the FLOPPY DISK that came with your mainboard in the floppy drive..

If you dont have the diskette then ,, the drivers are located on the mainboard cd,, its in the sata / raid folder, there should be a text document in there with the insttructions on creating a floppy with the driver files you will need.
