The restriction is in the cap tubes,You can recover the refrigerant, vacuum the system and blow nitrogen through it to get it clear.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly,
This certainly sounds like a low system coolant level issue. Have someone check the system pressures. Low side should usually be 65 to 70 unit running. High side will vary with outside temps any where from 135 - 170. If you do not have good low side pressures it will affect the high side pressures also. This is really the only way your going to sort this one out.

Look around the evaporator and the condenser for any signs of OIL or dark spots caused by oil. That is usually an indication of a system coolant leak.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

I have a Ruud 2 ton split system and the system will not cool. The compressor and fan on the outside unit works and the fan blower on the air handler works too. The temp on the lines coming into the...

The small line coming in from the outside unit should be warm to hot and the larger line should be cool and sweating with water forming on it. I am taking for granted that the unit was working if so it sounds as if the unit is low on freon. your inside coil should be sweating a lot from top to bottom if it is only cool or sweating on the bottom but less to nothing up top you are low on freon. When very low the unit will stop working just like a broken valve in the compressor. If it is just a little low it will not cool properly and at night it might even freeze the inside coil up.

Air not cold enough to cool house

Make sure the outside fan is running. Also check the high side pressure, I assume the 70# is the low side pressure, so you can tell what the compressor is doing. If the fan and compressor are both working, make sure there is good airflow through outdoor coil and check that it is clean. Let me know what you find.

After 4-5 hrs of running it ice particals drop out of AC and fall out.

MAKE SURE THE FILTER IS CLEAN AND COLD COIL IS CLEAN . JUST REMEMBER 70 OUT SIDE AND 70 OR LOWER INSIDE AND YOU HAVE A ICE CONDITION. 75 INSIDE AND 75 OR HIGHER OUTSIDE KEEPS UNIT FROM ICING UP. IF ITS LOW ON FREON IT WILL ALSO ICE UP. MOST OF THE TIME THEY DONT LEAK FREON BECAUSE THEY ARE SEALED SYSTEMS

Tempstar High efficiency 5000 It is not blowing enough cold air

if the unit has cooled fine in the past then it is most likely dirty you need to look at the return side of coil, you may be able to look thur your return grill.if it is dirty it is best to call a a/c service company to clean it for you, what ever you do,Do Not clean with a brush it can damage the coil and cost a lot to replace.also check your suction line at outside unit,it the big line it should be sweating if not it can be low of freon. Average cost to pull and clean a coil is about 375.00 no more then that.

Ac capillary tubes

Sounds like you have a clogged cap tube. Yes they should both be sweating, I would expect your low side pressure to be lower though unless it is real hot in the camper. You can replace the tube but make sure what goes in is the same diameter and length because that is all engineered for proper metering into the evaporator.

the large tube. it should be very cold
and the high side should be very warm but not hot.
if very hot you are leaking and low on freon.
