Seems like your VISTA upgrade didn't sucessfully upgrade itself from XP to VISTA. Seems like M$ update program detects your OS as XP and tries to install the SP3 for XP. VISTA only has SP1 released. Its currently stuck in a loop that it doesn't know what to do. Restart your laptop into safe mode by pressing F8 before the VISTA loading page comes up and go to Safe mode and backup your data and use the ACER RESTORE CD OR ACER RESTORE METHOD to help you reload your system back to factory defaults then upgrade back to vista without install any updates or connecting it to the internet.
This is my best solution to get you out of this weird and unusual situation.
SOURCE: systems always getting struct ,and have to
First of all if you are working on the notebook with your AC adapter, remove that coz there might be a problem with the AC.
Secondly remove all the attached components like printer, pendrive etc. and then attach one by one to see where the problem is.
Third, there might a possible reason that some program is hindering your work and causing all the mischief, better to scan your notebook with an antivirus or Download this program smit fraud fix and run it.
Fourth, update all the drivers and Windows.
Fifth reinstall OS.
Last but not the least an internal hardware problem can be another reason, call the Toshiba Customer care.
Good Luck.
SOURCE: my pc is stuck on configuring updates it keeps restarting i have to turn off manually
Try turning off the system then turn it on and immediately start hitting F8 repeatedly. Look for SAFE MODE and take the safe mode option to boot the machine. If it lets you in and boots successfully try doing a System Restore by clicking Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore. Restore back to a point (date and time) before you started doing the updates.
