Question about Televison & Video
Was practically given Phillips 50pp9202 hdtv from friend...picture and sound are terrific except the whites are glaring and hazy...adjusted convergence to best of my ability as well as brightness etc. Any ideas? It is hooked up to satellite only. I have seen suggestions to others butthey all involve blue/red/green...no "white" issues?!
Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look white, dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see white halos around images.
Here is a photo of a set that needs the fluid changed.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt lens. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos, step by step instructions, etc.
