Question about Dryers

Dryer will not restart after checking clothes

I was drying my clothes and open the door to check and when I closed the door it did not start. The timer still works, the door switch works. I checked all terminals and they were all ok except the start button did not read positive so I bypassed the switch but no luck. The 2 electrical parts on the heating duct read no power. I'm not sure what to do now and nave no funds to get a new one. Any input would be welcome. Thank you

Have you checked your breaker, turn it all the way off and then all the way on. If that doesnt work write back with a model number.

I am sorry to see that you rated my reply as inappropriate. I need the Model number to help you further but when a dryer suddenly stops working and is not getting power to some of the parts you would want to make sure your breaker hasnt tripped....why didnt you at least write back with the model number...I have been repairing appliances for over 10 years and It is not inappropriate to ask you to make sure your breaker has not tripped...

How do you dry clothes in this machine please

A fairly common problem! The official instructions are

Before using your dryer, wipe the dryer drum with a damp cloth to
remove dust from storing and shipping.
1. Load clothes loosely into the dryer and close the door. Do not
pack the dryer. Allow space for clothes to tumble freely.
2. Turn the Cycle Control knob to the recommended cycle for the type of load being dried. Use the Energy Preferred Automatic Setting (,) to dry most heavyweight and medium weight loads. See "Drying, Cycle, and Temperature Tips."
3. Select a temperature setting on models with a Temp/Fabric selector. The cycle descriptions include temperature setting suggestions.
4. Push the START button.

Stopping and Restarting
You can stop your dryer any time during a cycle.
To stop your dryer
Open the dryer door or turn the Cycle Control knob to OFE
NOTE: The Cycle Control knob should point to an Off area when
the dryer is not in use.
To restart your dryer
1. Close the door.
2. Select a new cycle and temperature (if desired).
3. Press START

No lint on filter? Where is it all going? Checked exhaust vent bought a vacuum attachment and there is no lint. Twice and sometimes triple the drying time! Help!

Instructions
  1. Dryer Does Not Run
    • 1 Close the door firmly. The dryer will not operate if the door is not completely closed.
    • 2 Press the "Start" button firmly or push the knob in to start the dryer.
    • 3 Turn the dial past the "Off" position and away from "Wrinkle Prevent." The dryer will not start in the "Off" or "Wrinkle Prevent" position.
    Long Drying Times
    • 4 Remove the lint screen. Clean it and replace it.
    • 5 Check the temperature of the room. The dryer will not operate properly in temperatures below 45 degrees Fahrenheit.
    • 6 Inspect the area around the dryer. It requires at least 1-inch clearance on the front and sides of the dryer. A 5-inch clearance is needed on the back of the dryer. Move the dryer, if needed.
    • 7 Separate large loads and do not use an air dry cycle.
    Lint, Stains and Wrinkles
    • 8 Clean the lint screen before drying each load of clothes to prevent lint buildup on clothing.
    • 9 Add fabric softener sheets before starting a drying cycle. If the sheets are added after the load has partially dried, they can leave stains on the clothing.
    • 10 Dry small loads and remove clothing as soon as the drying cycle completes to prevent wrinkling.
    Dryer is Noisy
    • 11 Check the inside of the dryer for loose change, buttons or other items. Empty the pockets on clothing before drying.
    • 12 Separate items that are knotted together and restart the load. Knotted or balled up clothing will bounce and make the dryer vibrate.
    • 13 Level the dryer. Turn the leveling legs on the front of the dryer clockwise or counter-clockwise until the dryer is level. Turning the legs clockwise will lower the dryer. Turning the legs counter-clockwise will raise the dryer.

Dryer won't start

Try 2 things to see what has happened.

1st listen for a click from the door switch just as the door opens or closes. (No click = no start)

2nd reach in and rotate the drum by hand just a little bit making sure you hear the motor also turn. Then try to restart the dryer.

If rotating the drum enabled you to start the dryer the motor switch is sticking.

Kenmore dryer doesn't recognize when the door is closed.

first try unpluging the dryer for 5 minutes and then check it,this resets the computer board just like your house computer or you could have a bad door switch or something wrong with the main board, the main board is alot more than the door switch,if you have a meter you can read out the door switch, there should be a tech sheet in the dryer maybe taped to the side wall behind the bottom panel that might help you out.

Maytag Electric Dryer Stopped Working

Check spring tab behind door switch-if it's bent/out of adjustment, circuit will act like door is always open.

To confirm this, open door, set dryer to active setting, and hold in door switch; if it comes on, then it's either the spring tab, or the switch is malfunctioning
