Do you mean you have never replaced one? Every computer has some memory. Please use the Comment button to further explain. If you are not sure what memory your computer takes, post the mak and model of your computer.

If you're talking about a flash memory drive (about the size of a packet of gum) then you need to insert this into your usb drive and if your computer doesn't automatically open window to access this drive (like opening any normal folder on your computer) then you need to select Start->My Computer->Logic (or some name brand the describes the the flash disk.

Hope this helps, let me know.

With many mobos (motherboards) you must place a single stick in a certain slot in order for the mobo to post. In my Asrock it is the #2 slot for a single stick. If I put it in the other slot the computer will not post. Try moving your stick to the other slot and reboot.

Hi Devika,
Buy a card reader that can read your memory card and connect to the computer. (Less than $8 in Sri Lanka). Connect it to PC and insert the card to the card reader.
Download Recuva and run it. select the memory card. Try to recover the files.
Best of Luck!

My memory stick Pro is not detected by my laptop, under My computer i dont find the memory stick pro at all... please help

Check to see that the memory stick is installed correctly. If it IS, and you are using Windows XP or Vista, then look under Administrative Services\Tools under the Start menu and select Computer Management. Make sure that the PlugnPlay service has been set up under automatic and that it has been started. The screen will show you a large selection of services and how they are programmed to start. Your computer will read your stick after the correct service, PlugnPlay, has been started. Please comment if this solves your problem. Thanks,

Emachines t5082- i pulled out the 512 mb chip of pc2-4200 533mhz that came in in the computer stock, and replaced with two 1gb chips pc2-4200 533mhz ( the computer has a max of 2 gb via two 1gb max slots)...

1)Check for BIOS update from emachines. Older computer may need updated BIOS to handle the increased memory.

2) If it does start up but the computer crashes or it will not load windows, Verify the sticks are error free with a memory diagnostic program like memtest. If the sticks have errors, get them replaced.

Page 43 of this manual seems to have the best documentation on memory for this machine. I saw a 2GB max in another document and this shows the biggest module as 1GB. I would believe that infers a pair.
