Question about Washing Machines

Hot water not flowing into agitator

Hot water would not flow into Maytag LA512 at my house. I removed the water intake valve and the hot water filter does look gunky. How do I clean this? It is not completly clogged so would it be better to simply replace this part? Last question - where is the solenoid or is this all together in water intake valve part. Thanks.

Thank you for the quick response. Would it be worth the trouble to test the solenoid before getting a new valve. I do not have a multimeter and have never used one.

There are two solenoids inside the valve one for the hot water side and one for the cold. They are under the metal part of the valve in the plastic housing. I don't think they sell them separately. If you can find a used one you can use it to rebuild it but most people just replace the whole valve. about 30 dollars.

They are not tested with a multimeter. The easiest way to test if the cold and hot are working is to put it on warm and fold the hose to stop water flow if there is a decrease in pressure comming out and into the basket then they are working. You probable need a new water valve.

Your supply hoses have screens in the ends.....shut off the water supply valves, unhook the hoses and take a look at the screens....sounds like they are plugged.

Very little cold water flowing. Hot is fine. Checked lines--all flowing great.

Remove the cold water line from the rear of the washer.
Remove the filter screen from the water valve and clean it.
A straightened paper clip works good to remove the screen.
Replace the screen after cleaning or you will damage the water valve running with no screen.

Hot water fills very slow(30 MIN OR MORE TO FILL) good water flow from spicket to washer, screens are clear. sewems to be something with the washer its self

Might be a bad inlet valve. To confirm, swap the hot and cold hoses to your washer so that the cold water feeds the hot water connection and the hot water feeds the cold water connection. Turn off both hot and cold water faucets. Set the washer for a warm water wash. Turn on the cold water faucet, and check the flow. Then turn off the cold water faucet, and turn on the hot water faucet and check the flow. If the cold water flow fill slowly, then the problem is with the inlet valve.

It an easy part to obtain from an appliance supply house. To install disconnect the hoses to the back of the machine, and remove the back panel to get access to the valve. Should only take a couple of minutes to remove and install. Hope this helps you.

hi, the fault is probably from a tempering valve, on the inlets (hot and cold feeds to the tempering valve) there are little filters that block up easily undo the connections to the tempering valve remove the filters and clean them

Hi .. I would first check the supply valve at the washer to be sure that it is open. if it is open , you can check the flow by shutting it off, removing the supply hose, opening the valve slowly and observing the flow. You might need a small bucket here. If you have water flow here at the washer supply valve, then the problem is inside the washer control.

is there a check valvle on hot water side of heater,a flow restriction of some sort, water pressure to the heater, a filter in the line, line pressure in the heater kicks out burner, when you turn on the water, line pressure drops, heater comes on, when you turn on water in other part of house, heater should not fire, so there has to be a check valve somewhere,in heater?

Not working

Disconnect water hoses from machine. Inspect the filter screen on the cold and hot water connection. DO NOT REMOVE SCREEN. If full of debris, use a spray bottle with a hard spray to remove debris. If unable to remove debris or water flow is still slow, replace valve.
