Question about U-Line Refrigerator Ice Maker
My boat has a U-Line SP18 won't begin to cycle (no compressor hum or cooling) when the "ON" switch in set. Only when I give the front of the unit a sharp "rap" with my hand will it start. After this, sometimes it continues to make ice all day, while other times it fails to cycle back on and needs another "rap". Is there likely a loose/corroded wire or is there likely a "starter" of some sort shot?
First thing you need to check is the ejector blades, They should be pointing straight up at 12 oclock. If not you will need to advance the ejector blade. The thermostat is in the back of the unit. It could be a faulty thermostat. It also could be the faceplate in the icemaker. Sometimes the motor doesnt go all the way to release the hold switch. Your thermostat usually runs between 25 - 50 dollars. Yellow on 2, (common), red on 1 (icemaker) blue on 3 (compressor and fan.)

Temp Control unit needs to be replaced - approx $75. This unit has a pre-set temp control unit which triggers the compressor/cooling fan to come on when the temp reaches its set parameters. When it doesn't function, you get the stated problem.
