It would help to have the model number. the model number is on the front panel that the door shuts to. Have you checked your breaker? If your breaker is fine and you are getting power to the machine write back with your model number and I will try to help.

Unplug the dryer and turn it aroud and take the back off. you dont need to take off the cord just the back. after exposing the inside of the back you will see a white fuse. with the back off take the two lead and put them together by hooking them onto each other. they are not ment to be or stay this way but it will tell you if this is what needs to be replaced. once they are hooked together make sure they are not touching any metal and just kind of hanging there in a loop hooked together. plug the machine in and see if it starts to run. If it does you need to clean out the machine this is a safety fuse and usually goes out when the dryer needs cleaned out and is building up too much heat. it is part 59 in the diagram you will see if you follow the link i am sending you at the end of this comment. the factory part number is 3392519. you will see that in the parts list below the diagram. please get back with me if it doesnt help....good luck and let me know...here is the link

SOURCE: dryer won't start. it doesn't do anything

Hi wawhitlock20...

Here are a few things to check:
ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Check to make sure you are getting full 220 Volt power to the dryer, if you are then:
Check your Wiring
Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, burns and the connection breaks. If this has happened to your dryer, you need to replace the power cord and the terminal block inside the dryer to which the wire is attached.
Check the Door Switch
If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. Check for continuity you should have none with door open, and should have a reading when closed. If not replace the door switch.
Check to make sure you heating problem is not a lint build up in the discharge hose or the dryer,as this condition can cause heater/thermistor problems such as overheating of the heating coil leading to failure of the coil and burnout of the thermostat/thermistor due to overheat.
Remove the back/or front just under the door of the machine and try to locate the air duct going from the blower to the drum. Normally inside/outside the air duct you will find the heating coil and the thermostats/thermistors. Once you have located the heating coil, remove the two wires from it and check the coil with an ohm meter across the two terminals of the coil.
You should read continuity across the terminals, if not you will need to replace the coil as it is faulty.
If the heating coil is ok, then:
You can check the thermostat/thermistor/thermal fuse one at a time by removing the two wires and taping them together with electrical tape.
If the coil heats up then replace the thermostat/thermistor/thermal fuse as it is faulty.
If you have an ohm meter then you can test the thermostat/thermistor/thermal fuse,
then you do not have to tape the wires together as described above.
To test your thermostat/thermistor/thermal fuse remove the wires from the thermostat/thermistor/thermal fuse and check for continuity, if you DO NOT have continuity then replace the thermostat/thermistor/thermal fuse.
DO NOT LEAVE THE WIRES TAPED TOGETHER AFTER THE TEST AS THIS COULD CAUSE A FIRE BECAUSE YOU HAVE REMOVED THE SAFETY.
Check your blower wheel to make sure it is secure to the shaft and not plugged with lint, socks, etc.
If the thermal fuse overheats the dryer will not operate. It's located on the blower housing. It cannot be reset.
You can test it with an Ohm meter or continuity checker, remove both wires from the thermal fuse and put the test probes to each of the ends of the thermal fuse, if no continuity then replace the thermal fuse.
A vent clogged with lint can cause it to overheat.
Right after replacing a dryer element, always run the dryer on 'air fluff' / 'no heat', and go outside to verify there's plenty of air coming out your vent system.
If the vent's clogged, that new element can burn out very quickly.

Whirlpool dryer runs, hums, then quits

Sounds like the motor is on it's last legs. Replace it. But, before paying huge money for a motor and the labor to install it, I suggest that you price a new dryer and compare it to the repair costs. It may still be a little more for a new dryer, but....IT'S NEW!

I really hope the problem is the start button is defective, it is stuck on. You would need to get a new one. Bad news is, that is a little bit more rare than the timer itself being messed up . Those are quite expensive.
Be blessed.

Dryer seems to run fine but not getting hot?

It is most likely the reset button. I hate that reset button. It is a pain to get to located in the front of the dryer it looks like a screw press it and it gets hot. I have to press mine all the time because I have the dryer vented with a flexible dryer vent and if it isn't far enough away from the wall it overheats, trips the button and continues to run without drying the clothes. I think it would have been a better design to just have the dyer turn off but oh well too late now. So try pressing the button on the front of the dyer under it you may need a screw driver to press it. it doesn't click or anything so you really don't know if you have pressed it. I just press mine a hole bunch of times to make sure. Oh and unplug the dryer before you work on it.

Maytag Neptune Dryer humming but not running

This sounds like the motor is siezed or burned out. I wish I knew how much a motor is, but the Neptune is a good dryer so it would probably be worth it to get a new motor if indeed that's the problem.
