No internet access after downloading AVG

The diagnostic test says the HTTP ports are blocked by firewall. I have uninstalled the AVG...even turned off the Firewall...still no connection. Any ideas?

Choose a restore point (choose the date before you installed AVG) and restore.

Open your control panel and check if every program associated with AVG is been uninstalled on your computer? you can also open your firewall settings and for a minute try to disable it, just to know if the firewall is miss-configured which might block your programs from from starting. also make sure you are log on as Administrator

Sometimes proxy setting or a firewall or even the anti-virus can stop Yahoo Messenger from downloading. If you've turned off the firewall, you may want to have a look into your proxy settings or anti-virus.

Alternatively, you can download the application from a different website like Softpedia. Yahoo will only give you an installer which will download the application and cause one of the above problems. Here's a link to Yahoo Messenger 10. Even after installation, you might have to grant access to Yahoo from anti-virus, otherwise it may not connect. Usually when it's trying to connect a pop-up from AVG will ask if you want to let Yahoo Messenger to access Internet and you have to allow this.

Have aproblem getting on the internet. problem with network adapt

Hello,

First - try step one- If that doesn't work, try step two.

Many virus scanners prevent programs from accessing the internet. Please go to download.avg.com This user manual will show you what settings you you can put your new software at to access the internet.

2. If that doesn't work- restore the system to the day before you added the software

Outlook unable to send/receive emails

Sounds as if AVG is not configured properly for your email service. Some free anti-virus applications are a bit fickled. If your internet service provider is Comcast you can use McAfee for free. You need to do a complete, clean uninstall of AVG, see if they have a Removal Tool on their site. In addition check to make sure Windows Firewall or whatever firewall application you are using, is configured properly to allow Port 110 Incoming, and Port 25 Outgoing are configured to allow.

Action failed for file avgtdix.sys: starting service....

There is a known issue between AVG 8 and Anniversary Edition of Ad-Aware which gives exactly this error, so if you perhaps just got that ad-aware, uninstall it too before trying to reinstall AVG.

Then run the uninstall/cleanup util for Avast because the Windows Add/Remove isn't good for uninstalling antivirus programs. Then try reinstalling it again. If you downloaded the installation package, then it provides the uninstall option. Disable Ad-Aware's Adwatch first! Run the AVG installer. Choose the uninstall option and follow the wizard. When you get to the part to remove user settings, select it. Restart your computer then... Now reinstall AVG using the setup file you got and update it.
Restart Windows twice before you re-enable anything disabled earlier.

Should this not work and you get the same error, that means the original errornous installation is still not out of your system. Download the AVG remover from here:
http://www.avg.com/download-tools
Remove your AVG and reboot to make sure it is not there any more, and try installing again.

Let me know if the solution worked and if yes please rate me:)

Windows xp service pack3 no wireless internet

ok, this is an easy fix, just go into device manager and unistall the wireless card, dissable AVG firewall and activate microsoft's firewall. Then Download CCleaner and clean the registry, you can download it from here:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

when you have cleaned the registry restart the pc, it should now detect the wireless card and install the drivers for it, it will show this in the system tray (bottom righthand side where the time is)
This should resolve the problem for you
post back if you still have problems

regards and please remember to rate us
