Hp officejet j5780 Constant paper jam

After paper feeds to point where it meets ink cartridge, paper stops just before printing stops. printer message states paper jam - press ok when clear - press ok and paper glides out no problem. Have cleaned rollers, checked for jam from back panel door, see no paper particles. Don't know if related, but ink cartridge is leaking at its resting place - guessing it is preparing to print. contacted hp and they advised cleaning copper terminals on cartridge - which did nothing to help. Of course warranty ran out a few months ago. Appreciate any advice for resolving as I am unemployed right now and would rather not have to spend if I don't have to.....
