cd drive does not work but dvd drive works

My cd/dvd drive is reading CDs ,DVDs , writing DVDs but not writing CDs.The thing is that 3 months ago it was fine.I've tried diferent applications to write CDs...I've change even the Operating Sistem from Windows XP to Windows Vista then to Linux-Ubuntu.....but the same problem....It looks that is writing but at the end , when I try the CD it's nothing on it.Can anyone knows how to make it work?help please!!!

same problem...dvds read fine and some cds...

the same problem as mine... i think the only solution is to buy a new one driver

The DVD works but CDs will not read. I have done nothing yet.
