Dell Inspiron 9300 Problem

My Dell recently started to develop colored vertical lines on the screen and now there are several. I have read some solutions but I don't quite understand what it is I have to do. Is this something I can fix myself or have to take to a Laptop technician?

Hi.

Well, if you have read some solutions, but don't understand them, my thought is you should probly take it to a reputable shop (if you're near Tulsa Ok., I can recommend a good one[:~)

It's probably either a bad connection, a video module going out, or some other fairly simple fix. Have you hooked it up to an external monitor, and if so, were the lines on it as well?

Let me know

Dell Inspiron 9300 Vertical lines

Try re-seating and cleaning, the connection between the display and the Motherboard, (Electronics cotton swab and rubbing alcohol, be sure not to leave any of the cotton fuzz on the connectors.) It will be below the keyboard. If that doesn't result in any improvement, the display will probably need replacing. You can find the complete tear-down guide here: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins9300/sm/index.htm

My Display has a permanent white 1" vertical line about 2" from left side on my monitor. Start menu is OK but when loading running anything it is always on the top and makes everythin hard to read,work...

dead lines can be an indicator of a failing LCD screen or inverter. I would take it to a certified repair shop. The inverter should be fairly cheap, the LCD probably not so much.

The lines indicate a slow failure of the LCD and it is progressive. The system can be connected to a VGA monitor and you can select the External display using Fn + F8 key combination.
LCDs are about $100 on EBay

I have inspiron 9300 and my screen has developed 5 vertical lines.repair or replace and cost please

Usually this issue isn't repairable, but is fixable by replacing the screen. This can cost from $75-$200 for parts depending on your model alone.

There are a couple on E-Bay for about $100-$125 for your model. I would recommend finding someone that has experience replacing computer monitors.

If you feel comfortable replacing it yourself (make sure you take the necessary precautions), you can find the Service Manual from Dell with disassembly instructions at the following link.

Numerous, bright, multi-colored vertical lines on 9300 screen

Try taking out the Ram memory first one stick at a time. Sometimes when Ram goes bad or overheats, it first affects the display. If that is not the issue, here is the link to your service manual.

Vertical lines in my laptop screen

Try connecting an external monitor to the Dell Inspiron 9300 and see if the vertical line is also present on the monitor. If the monitor display is fine, then your laptop’s LCD display panel is defective. If the monitor also displays the vertical line, then your problem is with either the video card or motherboard located inside your laptop.
Not sure if the Compaq Presario has an external monitor plug, but if it does the above procedure can be applied to that one as well.

Pixal loss lines on screen???????????

Sometimes this is a sign of the monitor ribbon disconnecting from your motherboard. If you feel confident in taking your computer apart, you can reseat the cable and see if this improves. Usually pixels die individually, lines tend to be a video card error.
