You can double check the suggestion of the vidoe card by connecting your computer to another monitor. If the lines appear on the second monitor then the diagnosis is correct and the video card in your computer is failing. If the lines do not appear in the second monitor, then your monitor's screen is failing and you'll need a new monitor.
This is the exact same problem which I am facing at this moment. I opened the Case of the monitor. I saw that there are 2 small buttons with a extended rod attached which goes into the buttons on the Monitors body. I saw the Contrast button and the brightness and the Menu button are stuck. I also saw that the monitor pads and the monitor sensor board has complete rust. I think I have to change the button pads and the Monitor Board. The same thing I am seeing in your case. I think this is a cause of Excessive moisture content in the air which is causing rust and jamming of Buttons.
I think now you can get what to do.
Thank you Sir, Have a nice day.
There can be 3 possible reasons for this 1)Screen connector cable is loose. You can try to re-seat it and see if works. 2)display card problem. Connect your laptop to an external monitor and see if the problem persists. If it does not then 3)You will need to get a replacement LCD screen. Hope this helps!
If obviously the problem has not occured again then you have solved it on your own. Bravo to that. You shoud give yourself a proud pat on your back. But if the problem still exists, then its with the device driver settings of the monitor. Try reinstalling the monitor by reinstalling its drivers.
If this still does not help then refer to an authoised service personel.
I understand that it seems odd that sometimes they disappear. I have a vertical line on one of my laptops right now that it takes about 3 seconds before it appears on the screen but once it's there. It's there.
I think it has to "warm up" before it comes back. I used to do Technical support for a company that produced computers with 5inch wide screens, and everytime something with a line was mentioned, "Fix display cable" was the reason. Because everytime you pushed the screen up to see the keyboard the line disappeared (because the display cable moved) But I digress. All I'm certain of is that if you change the display cable this will be fixed.
I tried this and it has worked temporarily by banging the monitor not great but it did work, no tech knowledge if there is any other advise please email.
Hiyama Monitor Model: Vision Master 17 (8617E Chassis) Horizontal dark line across screen shadowing text or other complex display data - giving appearance of 3D grooves or just dark lines on light background - temp fix (few minutes) by banging monitor or jiggling the video cable (thats what threw me for a while) Removed tube base board and ran over disc capacitors and other solder joints whether they looked dry or not. No re-occurence in 2 weeks of daily use. Seems to have fixed it. (Be prepared for a lot of metalwork and screw removal when opening one of these up - I still havn't figured out how to get the PSU/main board out of one !) (John)
I had the same problem with my monitor, saw only coloured vertical lines. I opened it, opened the back of the metal casing to get access to the circuits. There I found a loose connector. I reset it and it worked again!
