When turned on, screen shows LENS CAP and stays blank. Of course, I have removed the cap. Problem persists. Cam is unusable.

We have the same problem with our camera. My brother, who works with high tech cameras said it seems like their is something wrong with the iris. I can't seem to do anything within the menu to fix the problem.

I just spoke to JVC about the Lens Cap error problem on my JVC GRD30 camcorder. They said it is a CCI Sensor problem provided by a 3rd party parts vendor. They said to send it in to JVC and they would fix it. Only problem is tomorrow, Dec 24th is the last day they will cover this fix.

Does anyone know if the JVC digital video camera (model # GR-D3OU) is ABLE to receive a video input from vhs? This is a basic model that I bought on craig's list a while back but it has a av jack that has 3 cords that go out of it. Would love to know, thanks, Andy

No Prob...I had the same problem with my GR-D72U. There is a defect in the CCD image sensor. JVC will fix it for FREE! All it will cost you is shipping it to them. Go to http://www.jvcservice.com/service/CustNoticeCamcorder.asp?PgReq=DspDtaDtl&MdlNbr=GR-D72US&Pgm=CCD , download the rapair request... Send it off to your nearest service center and they ship it back all fixed up in less than a week. I must tell you though, you ONLY have until Dec. 31 2008 to do this. Not only did they fix mine, they cleaned the heads but also buffed out a scratch. After you get yours fixed, post as many helps as you can to others.

My problem (posted above) was with the CCD. When I spoke to a JVC rep in early December, the deadline at the time for free repair was early November or October, I'm not sure which. He said just send it in to the nearest factory authorized service center with a note explaining the problem and they'll take care of it free of charge. No RMA needed. And I got a free repair with fast turnaround. I suggest to others with this problem to just send the camera in with a note and they'll probably take care of it for free. If they want to charge you they'll have to ask for permission first. Being the camera is unusable as it is, what have you got to lose?

Apparently this same problem exists on many different models. I have a JVC grd72u. I called JVC @ 800-252-5722. I selected the "Corrective Action Program" prompt from the automated attendent. I spoke to a customer service rep. They are aware of the problem and are fixing it for free, but only until 12/31/07. I suggest you call ASAP and get your name in the computer. If the problem is something besides the CCD sensor, they will call you with the estimate to repair.

When in video recording mode LCD screen and viewfinder are black when the lens cap is off.

It could one of a few problems:

1. The viewfinder is pulled out and "PRIORITY" is set to "FINDER".

Push the viewfinder back in or set "PRIORITY" to "LCD".

2. The LCD monitor's brightness setting is too dark.

Adjust the brightness of the LCD monitor.

3. If the monitor is tilted upward 180 degrees, open the monitor fully.

JVC GR-D270 MiniDV camera i dont see nothing to my lens

You have an internal "lens cap" that covers the lens to protect it when it is not in use. Look around the front of the camera, near the lens and you should find some sort of switch or lever that will open the lens cap.

Need help urgently!!! GR-D22 not recording. I have a JVC GR-D22 Digital Video Camera (about 3 yr. old). It had been working fine. But recently it did not work anymore. The LCD screen is on, but a black...

There is a good chance that the iris is stuck shut. Try tapping the side of the camera lightly to try and release it. If the camera can show you old pictures that are currently stored correctly, I would suspect the iris.
