There is a four connecter , connection that runs from the right side of mower to the left. ( only about eight inches ) ? It will start after unplugging but then stall right out. With all connections in place there is no spark. This connecter I am unplugging goes has a white wire headed straight to the coil another wire goes to the bottom of the carburater and the others take off into the engine. Seems like there is a safety of some kind killing it ? Thanks for your help.

unplug wire harness ? what do you mean? if you unplug wires from engine on carburetor side that will usually will remove kill wire which is also saftey switches, if you remove this and it runs this means you have a bad switch or unpluged, dirtey connections

Hello:

>>The Following is a Basic Instruction File I Made for Checking the Coil/Ign Coil/Magnetron/Armature on Small Engines. Any Input is Appreciated.
>>**To Check the Ign Coil; Remove the Spark Plug/s.
>>With a Good Plug, Wrap a Wire Around the Threads of the Plug and Attach the Other End of the Wire to the Engine Block. >>Remove the Blower Housing (metal engine cover). The Wire that is Connected to the Coil/Ign Module from the Shut Off Switch needs to be Removed (unplugged) from the Coil/Ign Module.
>>Now Check for Spark at the Plug.
>>If Spark, then the Shut Off Switch or the Wire is Bad.
>>If Still No Spark, then the Coil/Ign Module is Bad. If there are Safety Switches on this Unit and the Coil is Good; you Need to Check the Safety Switches for Being Bad and Check the Oil Guard Switch also.**
>>The Following is an Instruction File for the Safety Switch System. Any Input is Appreciated.
>>The Color Code of the Wires May be Different than those I Use as a Reference in the Instruction File.
>>**PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHECKING THE SAFETY SWITCHES IS JUST THAT!!! FOR CHECKING ONLY.
>>I NEVER Suggest a Mower be Operated with a Safety Device or Switch Disconnected or Bypassed.
>>**Now. On Some Model Mowers you can Simply Unplug the Safety Switch from the Harness. On Other Models you have to Place a Jumper Wire Between the Harness Terminals (on the 4 Post Switch (Clutch/Brake) Jumper from Same Color Wire (Example: White to White) First and then Check for Fire, Now Include the Black to Black Wires if No Fire. Check the Clutch/Brake and the Blade/PTO Safety Switches First. Then Check the Oil Guard Switch (if Applicable). Check the Seat Safety Last. Usually the Seat Safety is Not in the System for Starting the Engine. Just to Ensure Someone is in the Seat when Engaging the Transaxle and/or Blades. Use a Paper Clip or a Short Wire to Make a Jumper.**
>>Use a Multimeter and Check the Continuity of the Switch. The Meter should Show when the Contacts are Closed and Open. The Meter will Swing All the Way Over when the Switch Contacts are Closed and Swing Back to the Rest Point when the Switch Contacts are Open.
What is Happening is you are Opening the Carburetor Solenoid when the Harness is Connected and Allowing Just enough Gas to Flow into the Engine and teh Plugs are Not Firing. When you Disconnect the Harness, the Engine Fires because the Safety Swiches cannot Ground Out the Coil with the Coil Shut Off Wire Disconnected (due to the Harness being Disconnected) and Burns the Gas that Entered the Engine when the Carburetor Solenoid was Open.
Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance.
Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Be Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck

Respectfully

The selonoid on bottom of carburetor shuts off gas,if bad it will not get gas,It was installed mostly do to engines back firing when shut down this seloniod shuts off gas to main jet so there is no gas in carburetor during shutdown,no gas in cylinder no backfire.

I have a 94 jeep cherokee that wont turn over or wont start?

No cranks is here
https://www.jeepdied.com/no-crank.html
TURNS OVER MEANS ZERO.
the starter just CRANK.
THE START MOTOR TURNS
IF lucky so does the crank shaft turn.
then the engine starts and runs, (this is not turns)
it's running
the EFI then sustains running , if ABS stays happy.
the engine can also stall.

Sears troubleshooting

I think you mean it wont run after running out of gas. You may have to remove the spark plug and shoot a small shot of starting fluid in the hole and replace the plug. Cranking means turning the engine with the starter motor.

No spark on 03 dodge neon

There is voltage on all three wires because there is no ground, check with engine cranking. The two wires that go to computer are grounds for coils. You could probably use a noid lite to check for pulse, engine cranking. That should be safe, between primary voltage and one of the grounds. There several ways to visually check for a pulse. If your digital multimeter has a min/max setting, that should work. You could use an l.e.d. but you would have to use resistor.
You changed computer, was it new?

I need a manual for a yard man 18.5 hp tractor

i don't have the manual but first see if you have spark the most common problem if no spark unplug the harness at the engine crank it a check again for spark if you have spark try starting fluid or carb cleaner this will tell you if it is a fuel problem if its fuel check for power at the solenoid on the bottom of the carb if no power there check the wiring and safety switches if you have power take the solenoid to make sure it moves if thats ok open the carb and clean it if it doesn't crank over put power to the small terminal on starter solenoid and if it cranks doing that check the safety switch

I have a John Deere 116 lawn tractor . wont turn over after running for a while then shut off

It is possible, but does the engine crank at all? If the engine doesn't crank at all it is a switch, and can be either the seat switch or the brake switch. If it cranks over but will not start it can be either fuel or spark issue. The easiest way to check for the seat switch is to unplug the switch and insert a jumper wire between the terminals on the harness end of the plug. The seat switch is just a continuity switch so it can be easily bypassed. The brake switch however isnt as easy to test. Start with the seat switch and let me know how it goes, Daniel.

Running fine. Died and wont start. Cranks fine

can you hear the fuel pump kick on when you turn the key on but without crancking the engine? Generally the fuel pump will prime for about two to three seconds when you first turn the key on. if you don't hear it that's probably the culprit. If you do hear it it may be a bad pump. also should check to see if you have spark. You can do this by removing a plug wire and using another spark plug. Ground the plug to somthing metal and have someone crank the engine (making sure you are not touching the plug or metal) You should see a spark while cranking. Good luck
