Hi there.
Go into the Bios and set the boot order to HDD (hard drive) as first boot device, save the changes and exit the bios, the computer will restart and try to boot from the HDD.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

It means the hard disk. Remove it, clean the dust, reinsert it with all the leads snug tight. Else run the bootable OS CD/DVD in the ROM and try booting with ROM support. Also remove the HDD and put it on a working PC as a slave and run checkdisk to check for bad sectors or fragmentation......sodeep

Check to make sure, there is no diskette in the A: drive, USB flash drive, or any external devices with accessible memory on them, such as a flash drive, printer with a card reader, external harddrive, ect.

Then power down the device, and try again.

Laptop won'y start up has non-system disk or disk error

The error PXE-E61: Media test failure usually means the hard diskhas failed or the hard disk needs re-seating or the disk controller is faulty.First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart error

Is it a black screen right when you boot your computer? If so this could be a fatal disk error and the harddrive has crashed.

There is no easy fix other than to replace the harddrive.

My Compaq Presario F700 dropped approximately 2 feet to the floor from on top of a suitcase at the airport. It was in a case, but not a thickly padded one. When I tried to use the laptop after the fall,...

Try reseating the hard drive and the RAM modules, the fall may have slightly loosen these components.
The error message "Operating System not found" means the laptop could not find the hard disk, this problem could be the hard drive needs reseating, a faulty hard drive (they don't like being dropped), or a faulty disk controller.
