For the jewelry shots you will need an accessory telephoto lens with a macro feature OR a close-up filter set. The lens will give you more features, but the filters will be the less expensive option. The lens should also help with your video shots. I have a Z650, and I use both options - depending on the situation. eBay is a good cost-effective source for these accessories.

The best way to find what's available is just go to eBay and search "Kodak Z1275" Good luck and enjoy the camera.

Close-up (macro) pictures of anything require a steady camera and a steady subject. Your camera should be on a tripod and there should be no wind.

I don't know how close you need to be to the paintings, but if it's close enough to need the "macro"setting, then you need to activate it for close focussing.

Make sure you're using a tripod and that the camera is set for "macro" photos for close-ups.

Camera will not focus correctly. when shutter button is pushed half way down the picture goes blurry, and if you take the photo it actually turns out blurry.

If you are taking close up photos, you might have to use the "macro" setting. The auto focus only works down to around 5 or 6 feet I think. I have an earlier model of that camera. I use mine for normal use and also close up for work related photos.

Don't know how to take close-ups of objects.

Don't go too close to the object, since the lense works similar to the eye. EX if you put something mm. away from the eye it appears blurry and hard to see.
You need a certain distance and then use the zoom untill you have the desired image.
In SCN there is a special option for close up pics.

Pls. rate me good if any of these tricks have been useful for you.
Good luck

Gateway monitor pixels discolored on monitor

This happens when you keep a device close to monitor which uses wireless technology or signal(Cell phone, wireless router or modem). Also try to make distance between speakers and monitor, as speakers contains magnets and that causes such issues.

Close-up photos always end up out of focus.

Use the close-up mode by pressing the button with the flower (tulip) icon until that icon shows on the screen. Place the camera on a tripod or solid surface to make sure it is steady.

I have a canon A1000is and it is takin horrid pictures at close range. I'm taking photos of buttons and 90% of the time they are a blurry mess. I use Auto set and I'm taking dozens of images to get one...

Use the close-up setting and hold the camera steady against a solid object or use a tripod. Use the self timer with the camera on a tripod or solid base. The button to set close-up and the menu icon look like a tulip. See page 64 of the manual: http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/0300001222/PSA1000IS_CUG_EN_02.pdf Try also with flash turned off.

Ixus 750 Blurred photos shot at a distance greater than a meter.

Check to see that the camera is not in "macro" mode, which would only allow focusing at a close range, but not allow focusing at beyond about 2 meters (look for the "flower" symbol to tell you that macro is activated). Could also be an out of adjustment lens, due to impact or force. Also check to make sure it's not as simple as a dirty lens. Digital cameras are more succeptable to blurry pictures from a smudged lens than film cameras were. Of course, that wouldn't explain why close shots are OK but distant ones aren't. Probably the first two suggestions.
