Question about Dryers

Kenmore gas dryer problem need help please

Our kenmore dryer stopped drying hot. The start element would heat up but the gas would not start. I was told the problem was possibly the coil valves in which I replaced today and the the gas finally was lit by the heating element. But, the unit would not draw the fire totally and some of the fire was coming out the pipe in the front. I check the vents and exhaust all clear. Now I notice the sensor on that burner cover is broken or worn out and I will replace that. I checked the blower/suction fan and it works fine. I'm at a loss? Please help. It's a kenmore 1 pc. dryer and washer unit model 417.99175100

I wonder if the burner assembly has pits and holes and/or if you have the air adjustment on the burner tube assembly set at the proper opening. Yes you should replace the sensor...are you talking about the one with glass on it?

Dryer works but there is no heat in cycles, just plain air drying, do not know how to get hot air, it is an 10 year old kenmore gas dryer, has a dial for time of cycle, can not turn dial to get warm or hot...

I think you will need a repairman to fix this. The gas valve coils may be bad if the igniter radiates but then shuts off before the gas ignites. A repairman can also look at the radiant heat sensor nearby the igniter and replace it if it is bad. He should inspect fuses and circuit breakers and the heating element for continuity, using a device called an OHM Meter. I don't think this is a do it yourself repair job.

Dryer Gets Too Hot!

Could be the heat switch on the motor or a grounded heat element

Dryer want heat up

Hi

Things that could stop a electric dryer from heating:

- house fuse or breaker ( needs two of them ), heating element, burnt wire, thermostat(s), thermal fuse ( not all models ), motor heat switch, timer, selector switch, burnt power cord/plug.
A ohm meter test for these parts is here.

Things that could stop a gas dryer from heating:

- glow bar igniter, thermal fuse ( not all models ), coils on the gas valve, gas valve, thermostats, motor heat switch, timer, selector switch, sensor.
A page for checking gas dryers is here.

Please do rate the solution as "FixYa" and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee
