Question about Computers & Internet

I need the color codes, and more importantly, the polarities of the tips that come with universal notebook power supplies. Thanks for any help.

This power supply is just like the "brick" that comes with most notebooks except that it is manually switch adjustable for 16v thru 24v and has eight interchangeable tips to fit various notebook power connections. I once saw on the net, either from a sellers site or a blog site, a list that explained the tip color and polarity code. Does anyone have such a diagram? Thanks for any help.

Depends on the brands you are looking at.
The most common are these:

As Far as I know, the notebook PSU's follow the same industry standard colour coding as a regular ATX PSU.

(numbers expressed as V)
Blue -12
Red +5
Orange +3.3
Grey Power good signal
Green Power switch
Purple Stand by power
White -5
Black Ground
Yellow +12

Voltage and polarity for Hyundai B70A

Hello,

Your monitor needs a 12volt 5amp power supply with + 5,5mm tip. Most universal power supplies will not supply enough amps to power an LCD monitor. If you need an adapter we do have them in stock at:

I hope this helps, if so please rate this solution.

Can any ac adapter be used with sonic impact IF2? Or does it have to be the charger made just for that device?

Just make sure that the VOLTAGE and MILIAMP input rating match what it says on the Sonic unit itself, and that the connector is the correct size. More importantly, make sure that the polarity of the plug is correct. Some are inner connector = positive and outer connector = negative or vice-versa. That also should be on a sticker on the Sonic unit or embossed into the case near the connector. DC voltage is UNFORGIVING when the polarity is reversed. The unit itself doesn't care WHAT is supplying the current to run it AS LONG AS ALL THE ABOVE FACTORS ARE MET. If this has been helpful, please rate it accordingly. Thanks and good luck. FYI: check eBay for universal power supplies that include different tips. One should fit your unit. $15-$30

Dv6500 adaptor pin connection

Color code is probably not the solution. Look in the manual for the pin out. Borrow a volt meter and power up power supply. With meter on dc volts measure voltage and notice polarity. My guess is blue is positive and bule stripe is the return for that supply, Hope this helps.

Need polarity of adapter plug for HP Pavilion DV6500

The cables for these are fairly specific, but if you have a cbale that has the same plugs and fits both the transformer side and the computer side, you cna use that as a replacement. The cord itself has no polarity.
Are you looking to do something else here?

Modified power conector polarity.

I know what you're trying to do, and I don't recommend it. I've done some splicing, and had a few that burned up the machine, so I recommend buying a new power supply. Check Ebay, you can generally find one at a reasonable price. Here check this link to Ebay, they have your adapter for $16 and change. You can't beat that. So why take the chance of ruining the machine.
