Despite assigning a specific message tone for my N76, no sound

You cant block icomming calls from some specific numbe with Nokia 301, but as a compromise solution would be to silence it, i.e. to play silence, when unwanted number is calling. You can create group unwanted, add your unwanted numbers, download some silence tone and assign this tone as the ringtone for this group.

Now days most stock phones do not allow individual tones. You can however download from the app store, a customized messaging app to replace the stock one. Such as go sms pro or handsent. Both are great.

@pavlicmaster r u dumb? read the question nicely the person is asking about personalized sms tone and see what are answering for. one line answer Nokia is still to introduce this facility like LG and SAMSUNG.

I have assigned ringtones to certain people, but it just says "Judy calling" or who ever it is. Why won't the ringtone play?

do these steps,
1. press menu
2. select settings
3. select phone profiles
4. select on the drop down list (you can see it above on the right hand corner) incoming message,
5. from incoming message settings,scroll down and select tone,
6. locate the file or the tone you want to assign as message tone,
7. select save.
8. exit setting.

You can not do that as far as I am concerned. It's all the same sound for any type of message.

Go to menu,Go to settings,Go to sounds settings,Go to alert sounds,now pick the alert you want to get a tone for. It should ask if you want tone or vibrate, hit tone and scrollt o the tone you want to assign to it. Hope this helps.

you will need to check your msg tone settings and assign a tone to it.

Unfortunately you are set with ten assigned message tones. The only thing I don't like about the phone.


To get there though you must go to menu then settings then sound then message alert tones. I know its a bummer. There isn't even a way to make only the messages vibrate and be silent.
