Question about Serif PagePlus 8 PDF edition for PC

1 Answer

Does not open with vista

Have page plus 8 pdf edition disc. has worked fine with XP. Have loaded disc on to new laptop with vista. Program advised me to update from adobe reader 7 which I did to v9 successfully. Was also advised PP* had loaded successfully. However when opening ppp8 only a greyed out window appears and now welcome or wizard screen opens. The programme then stops responding and has to be closed down. What have I done wrong or is there a fix/patch I need from somewhere. Thanks for any help you can give Regards Alan

If you can get the software onto your computer, try right clicking on the scanner program--properties--compatability tab--check "run this program in Xp compatability". Worked for me in Vista

Boot Disc's Not reading, Dvd rom help? or Xp/vista help?

How did you made it boot to the disc? if you used keystrokes to do so, it would be better if you go into your BIOS and set the boot priority making the dvd drive as priority and see if it is gonna work that way. If it does'nt you need to be concerned about the drive itself, it might be having problems as well.

.pdf files in adobe reader 8.0

Hi Jim,

While I can't tell you why adobe 8 wants to save files before reading or printing, I can suggest that you try again to go to:

control panel in XP
add/remove programs
pick adobe 8 and uninstall it

If you still have the older version installed try to see if it works now. You may need to restart pc to get it working.
If not then uninstall all versions or READER you may have.
Restart computer.

Now go to ADOBE.COM and install VERSION 9, the latest, and try it out. Its best to go directly to the site from your browser rather than follow links of dubious origins.

If it STILL won't work right for you, then try the following.
Go to the link below and install the older version of READER that you liked. Its a fine website with OLDER versions of many programs.

http://oldversion.com/program.php?n=acrobat

Good luck Jim, and I beg you please don't vote for me unless I was able to FIXYA!
Thanks.

I cannot load Pagemaker 6.5 onto my laptop w/ Vista

Pagemaker 6.5 is designed to be used with Windows 95 / 98 / NT 4, therefore in order to run it in Vista I'd suggest to run your Pagemaker 6.5 using Compatinity Mode --> Go to your Desktop --> Right click on the program icon--> properties-->Compatibility--> select one of the versions above

Reinstall the nero 8 and restart the system. If problem persists then it is better to change the OS to windows XP SP2.

Canon 20D Camera & Vista

it's probably the Canon EOS 20D
go to http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0010131.asp and select windows vista

it's only available for windows vista 32 bit, so it probably doesn't work if you have the 64 bit version

Downloading photos from Canon 400D direct to Canons photo editing programmes on new windows Vista computer.

There are two ways to solve this problem. I am assuming you are simply clicking on the pictures and choosing "edit" or double clicking on the pictures and they are opening in "Vista picture editing"
The first way to overcome this is by opening the desired program first (in this case canon's photo editor) and then choose open and find the desired photos.
The other way is to set the file type association in vista so that RAW programs open with the canon program see below for step by step:
1. Click Start
2. Click default programs on the black bar
3. Click Associate a file type or protocol with a program
4. Find the file types you want to open automatically in your canon editing program (RAW .jpg etc)
5. Click once at the top of the page click change program
6. A new window will open, if it does not list the correct program click browse at the bottom of the window and find your editor in it's folder.
7. Select the desired program by double clicking
8. Click OK
9. Click close
10. Test the new file association by double clicking a RAW file or one of the other file types and see if it loads into the correct program.

The final (and this is simply my plug for open source programs) solution would be to try something like GIMP (it is a photo editing suite developed under linux but adapted for windows) you can search for it on google.

If you are having trouble with any of these steps please post a comment and I will try and add some clarification.
Hope this helps
