when using an hdmi input, make sure the "input mode" is in 'hdmi' or 'auto'. i am sure you can remedy your issues with a trip through the setup menu. it very extensive. good luck
there should be a way to change a setting between.....analog, coaxial, optical 1 and optical 2..if everything is connected through rca jacks try analog
Connect the TV directly to cable box to make sure the TV and cable box are ok. If you have picture then the receiver is no good. Some Denons have problem with HDMI board (digital unit).
If your TV has an HDMI input, hook up the PS3 w/an
HDMI cable to the TV. This will give you a high def picture (set up the
PS3 to output the max resolution your TV displays). That will take care
of the video side.
Next hook up an optical cable from the PS3 to the receiver. In the PS3
menu, you have to change the audio settings to output the sound via the
optical cable.
Finally to get sound out of the receiver to the speakers, you have to
setup the receiver source input. For example if you setup the PS3 to
play thru "VCR" input, then you have to make sure the VCR input is
setup to use either optical 1 or optical 2 for sound (whichever one you
have the optical cable plugged in from the PS3).
I found this solution on a different site... it worked for me. I needed to change the sound settings in my ps3 to optical... then i selected dolby 5.1.... that took care of my sound.
It may may the the AT+T box is really not compatible with the AVR or the Pioneer.
Check the specs on those input/outputs for the Ubox and the receiver. See if they agree. If so, try another hookup method like HDMI ( which carries the audio too)
I have the denon as well two zones. 5 speakers inside and 2 speakers outside- can you play both zones at once? meaning can i watch tv in the 5 zone area inside. And play my IPOD in the outside speakers at the same time? PLEASE HELP! thx
nice gear. Without further information, i am going to describe the best setup possible with your equipment.
1. make sure the speakers are connected to the receiver and you can hear sound out of it
2. connect cable box to receiver via hdmi to receiver.Choose cable on the receiver or video1 etc. (if you are not using hdmi cables post annd i will walk uthruogh a non hdmi process)
3. connect a hdmi cable from thee receiver monitor output area to the tv hdmi input
4. connect the dvd player hdmi to the input of the receiver
to watch select the tv av mode to line up with the receiver and choose video1 for tv and dvd to watch dvds on the receiver.
Consult the user manual. If you don't have one, it can be downloaded free at Denon's website. Two of the speaker oututs serve multiple functions. Hookup and setup need to be checked. What you want to do is possible as long as you're only using a 5.1 setup indoors.
