Hi,
There is a device in your microwave oven called a magnatron. This device generates the microwaves which heats up the food. If all is working but there is no heat, it means the magnatron is faulty or perhaps part of the magnatron circuitry. Check all fuses and then have the magnatron tested by a qualified technician if all fuses are okay.
Please let me know if this has helped solve your problem.
Best wishes,
Graemevm

The microwave won't boil water or cook the food we put in. its only saying power 100. what do we do?

I may need more information, however, I suggest that it could be either a dead magnatron or the high voltage fuse link to the magnatron. Check "Demo" mode, WARNING: if you try and replace the fuse or magnatron yourself, make sure of 2 things, 1/ unplug from the wall 2/ make sure the HV Capacitor is discharged before touching anything around the magnatron....also, I may need the model and brand for better diagnosis... GE spacemaker xl1800 and Pop tarts bad mix

it sound to me as if the high voltage diode is shorted. It could be inside the capacitor or out board the cap. The capactor could also be short but this is a rarity. Diodes are a cheep item . repace it and if it don't work its probably the magnatro. good luck.

Microwave

Magnatron is suspect. Need to put a voltmeter on the input (primary) side to the high-voltage transformer (big heavy iron thing in there) Should be getting 120Vac when it goes to cook cycle. Don't touch the other (high voltage) side of this transformer. If the power is there, you are looking at replacing the magnatron. Its affordable if you do it yourself - buy the part on EBAY - lookup "universal magnatron"

GE Profile Spacemaker XL1800

pull the cover off of the microwave and check for anything loose. ie fan bracket covers. check the 4 nuts that hold the magnatron in also. if that doesn't fix it maybe you can go to an appliance repair place and see if that have a magnatron tester which is just a piece of plastic with 4 bulbs in it and if the magnatron is working properly with that tester in the it will look like a red strobelight going off in the microwave. if not then your rumbling noise is the magnatron getting ready to go out good luck
