Question about E-Machines etower 333cs PC Desktop

Emachine eTower 333cs restore Cd does not reload on HD

I have an eMachine eTower 333cs that I was going to give away and I used the Webroot Drive eraser to clean the HD so it would be fresh. When I tried to use the restore CD, it did not work, it kept saying something like Invalid Directory or something similar. I bought a new HD and the Restore Cd did the same thing. Do I need a new motherboard. Did the Webroot eraser software permanently damage the computer?

When you cleaned the HD you did eraser some of the software that was on the hardrive that is need to do the Quick restore and know the only way to fix this is to installe a new copy of windows and look up the drivers for the motherboard.

Step 1:
Which operating system ?

Use an external memory device such as a DVD, flash drive or external hard drive to back up the data you need to save from your eMachines computer. Any data that isn't saved to an external source will be erased when the computer is restored to factory settings. Remove any discs that are in the optical drive and unplug the computer's peripheral devices, such as an Ethernet cable or scanner. Do not disconnect the keyboard, mouse or monitor. Click the Windows "Start" menu and choose "All Programs." Navigate to "eMachines" and choose "eMachines Recovery Management." Click the "Restore" tab. Click "Password Settings" if you have not already set a recovery password. Type a new password in the text box and click "OK." Click "Restore System to Factory Default." Type the recovery password and click "OK." Click "Next" to wipe the eMachines computer's hard drive and begin the recovery process. Select "Finish" and wait for the eMachines computer to restart. Use the series of installation prompts that appear on the screen to create a new user account for your operating system, set the system date and time, and set up your Internet settings.

Need to add hard drive and memory to emachine tower 333

Okay, this is what you do, I don't really think that Win 98 supports dual HDDs, but I think I can help.

If you have a IDE Dual Cable (plug into the Motherboard and have two connectors attached), Do you see the mini plug by the connector on the HDDs? (Usually white or different color) on the Original HDD, put the miniplug to "Master" and the second (added) HDD to "Slave" or you may be able to use the "Select" on both.

What I do recommend though is going ahead and burning all of your precious data to CDs and buying a newer HDD.

Instead of 4 Gigs, get something around 80 Gigs.

If you give me the motherboard specifications, you may be able to update your RAM to 128-256 MB

Computer won't reboot

Check your BIOS settings, specifically the diskette drive setting. Next, check the cabling to the drive itself. Your problem may have nothing to do with the diskette drive, but check it out. Next, have someone download hard drive diagnostics for the brand of drive in the machine. You could have errors on the drive, and a diagnostic program may locate, repair them. The startup disks, these do a full system restore, reinstall of the operating system? The machine will boot from the first startup disk and begin the reload process?
