Question about Sharp 27G-S60 TV

Sharp 27G-S60 no vertical picture

The problem has been intermittent for a while, but now is permanent.  After turning on the TV only displays a horizontal bright line and you can see the picture "moving" behind the horizontal line.  The sound is fine.  I remember on old tube TV's there would be one or two tubes responsible for vertical control, pop the old one out, pop a new one in - done!  Any home-based tinkering solution here?

Re: Sharp 27G-S60 no vertical picture

Your problem is due to vertical section failure.

as you say it was intermittent for a while, but now is permanent

please check the followings as given

  • remember you should keep brightness as low as possible to avoid crt burn.
  • there might be loose contact in print or connector loose for deflection coil.
  • check supply to vertical output section
  • check components in vertical output section like electrolytic capacitors & low value resistirs.
  • check verical outout ic .
  • hope this will help
  • good luck.

Hi I have a sharp 27H S60, has worked fine for many years. Now, I get fine sound but no picture. When it is first turned on I get a thick white line in the center of the screen for a second, then it is...

The problem is a vertical deflection issue, it means the picture from top to bottom has collapsed. The set will require two or three capacitors and an ic and it is quite fixable.

Only a horizontal line can I see in my TV

In most cases the vertical output IC and possibly a fusible resistor off of the high voltage transformer are bad. The vertical output IC is located on a heat sink and usually right next to the vertical yoke winding connectors that are green and yellow in most sets. Please take a moment to rate my answer..Thanks...

Turns on but quickly turns off

you have defective power oscillations! in this model you have to replace the vertical output ic. because the power oscillation for Jungle IC is passing by from Vertical output.

TV won' turn on

Solder, solder, solder! Shut down circuits protect crts to avoid permanent damage. If any of the deflection circuits are defective, or intermittent, shut down occurs. I have not only seen bad solder on deflection circuits, especially vertical, but also intermittent connections on the yokes themselves. I've also seen shorted convergence ics cause shut down. Don't forget solder connections in the power supply.
