APC UPS's have an reset button at the back (White stick switch inside a black "hole"). Plug the unit back into power and hold this putton in for about 10 seconds. This will reset the unit.

If that doesn't solve your problem you have one of 2 options. Warrantee or no-warrantee repair.

I'm sure your unit is still under warrantee since all APC units comes with a 2-year 48hour swap out agreement. Whether or not... you still baught one of the more descent units and it's well worth the effort.

Just goto http://www.apc.com
Choose your country
Choose your region (if applicable)
Click on "Support"
And select in/out warrantee Services
You can follow the easy steps on phoning them or sending an online request.

Enjoy

Overload problem

Hi Javier,

Is there a printer plugged into the UPS? If so, unplug it and plug it directly into a building outlet.

If not, you have to load manage what you can load the UPS with... remember it's only rated for 1000VA. Go here (http://www.apc.com/tools/ups_selector/) to get a better idea of what you need.

Why does battery beep and tells me its on battery power when it's stil plugged to wall. and i have a good power source

Usually that indicates a low battery charge or bad battery. Make sure you do not have the battery backup side overloaded with too many devices. Do not plug inductive loads with motors or heating elements into the backup. Turn the device off and unplug anything that is plugged into the bachup. Plug the battery backup into the wall with nothing attached and turn on. Wait 10-15 minutes. this will charge the battery. If beeping continues after this with nothing attached, you likely need a new battery or the control/monitoring system is bad. If beeps stop, reinstall and do not attach more wattage than the unit can suppluy

Have a APC xs-900 that indicates overload and there is nothing plugged into it. New battery did not help.

change the internal fan its a 18-24V type change it with a ball bearing type and yes a 12 volt will also work, with 120v input fine and under medium load the fan is only supplied with about 15 volts and only reaches 24 volts if the load shoots up or there is a power fail situation

Overload Red button is on even after pressing reset button @ back

Try unplugging some equipment from the UPS. The total load should be less than 865 W. Printers and scanners often are culprits. Some gaming desktop computers can have a power supply that will be too much for this UPS. (I've found that even having the printer on the surge only part of the UPS can be a problem. I have the printer on a separate surge protector.)

Since the overload is new, did you add any equipment to the UPS recently or upgrade components?

If you reduce the load, and the problem continues, the UPS may have a fault in the circuitry. If it is under warranty, contact APC.

I hope this helps.

(I have replaced APC units after 3+ years when they can't properly recharge the battery - with a new battery. The symptoms are 1) getting a overload when a small load is on the UPS. Small load - desk lamp, 13" TV or 2) not keeping the item on when the power goes off.)

Tone alarm goes off and flashes "overload" and on the back "building wireing fault" is lit up

The "Overload" light and alarm is to tell you that the devices connected to the UPS are drawing more current than the UPS can safely provide with battery backup. You should disconnect a few items, and the alarm and overload light will turn off. The "Building wiring fault" light on the back is to tell you that there's no proper ground wire inside the wall outlet that you're using. These two problems are not related to each other.
