My wife washed her LG rumor. Everything works but the microphone. I have figured out how to disassemble it and can see the microphone component, what can I do to get it working. This is the second rumor that has been washed and had this problem.

The speaker for the mic has been damaged due to the water.
speakers and water dont mix too well. if you want to continue using it you will have to replace it yourself, or pay your service provider to do it for you. may cost a leg or 2
ebay is famous for finding parts for anything, type in your phone and model and the part your looking for. with a little ambition, research and a torx set you can take the phone apart and do it yourself !

Well if a microphone is exposed to to much vibration shock it can shatter the diaphragm that is in the microphone, which is crucial to how it works. In my opinion I would attempt to use the fan trick, and if that does not work I would call the phone manufacturer.

take out the mic and dry it properly. make sure it is completely dry with no moisture, then reassemble it. If you are lucky, it will work again as long as there are no bridging of cables by the liquid that got into it. If it does not work, you may have to get another mic to replace it. cheers!!!
