Take a flashlight and with the tv on shine the light on the tv and see if you can see anything on the screen. You can sometimes also look from a different angle and see the picture if the lcd is burned out.

If it is a flat panel tv, than it is most likely the CRT's or IC's that will need to be replaced. That is color picture tubes or capacitors on video board. You will have to purchase a repair manual to change the caps. Otherwise I suggest having it repaired by tech. I believe it is worth having it repaired since it is newer.

This means that either the X-sus, Y-sus or the Z-sus board isn't powering up the pixels and one of them needs to be replaced. To test them you can open the back of the tv and use a multimeter to check the voltage.

Your LCD power Supply has failed.
Cost to replace (depending on stock) is about $400.00 about $150 for the part and the rest labor.

Thanks for using FixYa!!

If you're feeling froggy - remove the back panel and look for scorching on the Y Buffer board.

There are 2 in the unit - upper and lower - if one is damaged - usually backfeeds and causes damage in both. Both will need replacement.

If there are no error indicator flashes though - the LCD power supply is the likely culprit.

    LCD Power supply/Invertor board:

    LCD TV invertor:

Invertor only has ICs and diodes (basically)

Power supply has caps, coils, fuses & more

Some TVs (as pictured above) have 2-in-1 power supply/invertor board.

here is the y invertor board i was speaking of too -

There are 2 (different part #s as well) Upper and Lower.

If you are going to attempt a repair - a $20 service manual will do you a LOT of good in determining the locations of the parts and the troubleshooting thresholds.

    Thanks!!

your switching mode power supply shouldnt need testing - there is power - or there isnt.

Start with the fuse and work your way back.

In order to fully test ICs and some other components - you must de-solder from the board to test.

The Service manual will give you all the voltage specs at each designation.

No tubes in plasma tvs, most likely the one of the sustain boards, best to have a tv shop check it.

I have a 46 inch Samsung plasma HP R4252 picture went black

Probably the power supply that drives the video has gone bad. Samsung recommends the TV go to a service center. If you have some skill and are willing to try, open up the back of the TV, remove the shielding and look at the boards to identify any obvious damage. Leaking or bulging capacitors, soot, scorch marks are the obvious. (Other parts can have bad solder or tiny cracks that are hard to spot.)

http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsearch/result/index/q/HP-R4252 has reclaimed parts for this TV. These are parts from TVs that were damaged in shipping and were only run during quality control tests. They list several power supplies for the model so check what part number is actually installed (there is usually a label on the board).

I hope this helps.

You have a burn in problem from watching widescreen movies. If you have access to a signal generator or tv setup disc run a perfectly white screen on the plasma for about 30 min. This should help even out the pixels on the display.
