Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have the Hp Slimline s7320n series and it will not detect the DVD drive. I do not know what to do. Hp says that I will have to open the whole thing up to make sure that it is seated correctly. I need step by step instructions. I have no problem taking it apart, but do not want to do all that and the problem still remains.

Where is manual eject hole on hp slimline pavilion s7320n

Below the drive tray there is a tiny hole, straighten a paper clip and gently insert the paper clip into this hole. Push the paper clip and the tray will release and pop out, then pull the tray out to the fully open position.

Have HP slimline series. Came back from a break.

Try another monitor on it to verify it is the video card that has gone bad. If it does not work with another monitor then that is the likely culprit.

My hp laptops dvd rom is not shown and is not detecting any dvd

Have you used Device Manager and done a search for new hardware? If that has not helped, then you should try to open the laptop to check whether the wires are fully connected, if these are internal.

It is possible that the wires became disconnected, and need to be reconnected to work again.

Try that.

HP Pavilion Slimline s7400n PC

Hmm...Hope this works out !

Step1: Device Manager
Right Click on 'MyComputer' and click on Properties.Click on 'Hardware' and then Click on 'Device Manager'.

For the Category 'DVD-CD-Roms', click the plus sign and then the branch expands down..whatever is the name of the drive there, right click the name and click on uninstall..(If the category
'DVD-CD-Roms' is not there at all, you'll have to remove the drive off the system and put it back again and then try)...

Step 2: Registry

Click on Start->Run(Xp) or Start->StartSearch(Vista) and then
type in Regedit and hit enter..
The registry editor will open up. Click the + sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, the branch will expand down..then click the + sign next to 'System' and then 'CurrentControlSet' and then 'Control' and then 'Class' and then click on the folder '4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318'....on the right side..find the enteries 'Upper Filters and Lower Filters' ...If they are found right click and delete them... and then restart your system. !!!!

Check now if the drive works !
If it doesnt then update the firmware of your cd-rom drive, If this still doesnt work..then iam afraid the drive is bad..(There is no need to Reinstall the O.S)

Note:Checking in BIOS & Device Manager for the hardware presence/detection of the drive is very important..If the drive is not getting detected in BIOS, then step 1 and 2 wont work...
Only Reseating the Drive might work!

Best Of Luck !
