You cannot bypass the sensors. When the government mandated sensors they also mandated that.

I have a liftmaster garage door opener - the door opens fine but I have to hold the enter key or wall button until the door closes.

By holding down the wall button you are bypassing the photo sensing safety eyes. Look at them at the bottom of the track. Both should have an led light on them and both should be lit. If not try to realign them. If this does not work look at the actual sensors and the wiring for damage. You can test these with a 9v battery. If they are not good you can get replacement units at chamberlain.com, they are sold in pairs. Thanks. BB

Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+: Can I bypass the sensors on my garage door opener?...

You cannot bypass the sensors but you can try reversing their position so that the sun isn't hitting the receiving unit. You can also move them back from the door or use something like the tube inside a roll of toilet tissue to shade the lens.

Craftsman 1/2 hp moves chain 5-6 inches and goes in reverse.

There is no way to bypass the sensors and it is acting normal for an opener without sensors.

Safety sensors

Pull the contact wires off the back of the eyes. If this is found helpful, please post as such. Post as fixya if it gets the desired effect. TY
