I just moved and now have Direct TV and have a big
I moved and now have Direct TV and have a VZIO HDTV, big screen which worked well with my previous service - but does not work for volume on the new remote. It it an RC24 remote and there are no codes in the setup menu for VZIO and the ones the Direct TV guy gave me will not work either. My manual is in storage and the search method the Direct guy gave me has yielded no working code for 30 mins in the search mode - anyone just know it?

Re: I just moved and now have Direct TV and have a big
Not all Vizio TVs use the same codes with their Vizio remotes also. That's why this is a problem.
Here's the possible codes from my Directv book.
11756 and 10178
If that doesn't work, you may still find a setup code that works for your device by stepping through the library codes in your remote. The following instructions will help you do this.
Set the "Mode Switch" to the desired mode such as TV for a Television.
Press and hold the "Mute" button and the "Select" button until the visible LED blinks twice.
Enter the code "991" followed by the "device number"
for "AUX 1" devices - VCRs or DVDs
for "AUX 2" devices - Audio
You can step through the setup codes for this mode by pressing the "Channel Up" key to go forward through the codes or pressing the "Channel Down" key to go back to the previous codes.
You can try out each code by pressing one or more function keys such as power, volume or digit keys.
When you've found the setup code that works for your device, press the "Select" key.

I had the same problem with my westinghouse 47 inch HDTV. It turned out that someone had inadvertently hit the "format" key on my satellite (Direct TV) TV remote controller. If you have satellite TV you might want to check this out. I set it back to the previous setting and I get the entire screen. Hope this helps someone.
I fixed it!!!! If you can open one of the sides (on the JVC there is a little door with a screw), then you can clean the projector lense in the middle on the bottom. It kind of looks like a big light bulb. It seems there is just dust on the glass that is projected onto the screen. We had a big gray spot and cleaned it with a damp glass cloth and Ouila! It disappeared. I scored MAJOR brownie points with my husband for this one! He wanted to replace the TV!
The green screen is caused by light hitting the back of the tv. Either move the tv to a location where direct sunlight will not hit it or put up strong curtains. As for fixing the problem, do a search for JVC green screen reset on AVS Forum, its easy to do just dont have the info with me now. Keep in mind if direct sunlight hits the back of the tv it will do it again. I have put up some good curtians and ensure not to open them when watching the tv. Hope this helps.
