is it pci, or pci express? they sound the same but are not, pci express is smaller than regular pci, and the two are not interchangable. you may want to take it back where yopu bought it and see if they can exchange it for something different

Most PCs have USB ports, but no Firewire port. Macs often have a Firewire port but may not have USB. You could fit an add-on Firewire interface card to a desktop PC, but not to a laptop.

DO I REALLY NEED A FIREWIRE CARD?

If your camera is Firewire, iLink,or IEEE 1394, then you need Firewire support or a Firewire card.

If your camera has a USB symbol, or says USB anywhere in the manual, you can use USB for the functions it allows.

There is no USB to Firewire or Firewire to USB without the use of an advanced device.

WHAT FIREWIRE CARD DO I NEED FOR AN ACER ASPIRE M3201?

Hi there.
The best card for a desktop is a PCI Firewire card which goes inside the desktop base unit, i suggest you buy a brand new one as it will have the install drivers included with it.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Removeing panel from acer aspire to install firewire card

Generally you have two or more screws in the back of the computer, maybe a lever that you have to pull to release the side panel and it should come off, releaving the internals.
