    Hi there.
We need to know the make and model number of the motherboard before we can post a link to the manual.

There should be two ide connectors on the motherboard. One is labeled ide 1 and the other is ide 2. Ide 1 is for your hard drive and ide 2 can be used for your cd drive. Both connectors are 40 pin and are usually sited side by side on the board. Unfortunately you haven't given the make and model of the motherboard so the advice I have given is generic in nature. If you want me to be more specific please advise make and model

I bought a refurbished dell computer with no O S. Trying to install one but the P C says it doesn't recognize the CD Rom

Either the data cable or the power connection is disconnected on the motherboard or the CDROM has failed. You can check the cables first.

If it has failed you can get around the problem by getting a USB CDROM and install your OS that way.

I need to upgrade the ram in my Ms-6312 ver1 motherboard i need to know what the best ram and what will work i need atleast 2 gb

I have the same board. You can only install 256MB of PC100 RAM in each slot, for a total of 512MB. PC133 RAM will work as well, but it will run at PC100 speed.

Missing installation CDRom

Go to this site:

Lexmark Support

Type in your model number in the "Search by Model" block. Click the model when it comes up.

On the next page click on "Download Driver". At the bottom of the next page there are 2 tabs...Windows XP and Windows Vista. Click on the tab that corresponds to your operating system, then click on "Download Now".

When the window appears it is best to click "Save" and save it to a location on your computer where you can locate it after the download. You can save it to your desktop, or a Temp folder. It's up to you.

After the download, disconnect the USB cable from the printer. Make sure the printer power is turned ON. Find the file you downloaded and run (doubleclick) it. Connect the USB cable when prompted by the software.

I recommend that you formatt your HDD to a FAT32 system probably by using another pc then you should also ensure that your bios is setup for the appropriate operating system. maybe just download the appropriate bios files off the gigabyte web site.

My pc is going insane and so am I!

You need to go back into your manual and take a good look at the pin configuration connected from the Mb to your case. ASUS has a great site to help installing a new board. Check this out:
Click on Motherboards than click on (Trouble shooting PC).
