- There are more than one kind of remote for the sears garage door opener. You will need the model no. on both the opener and the remote, You can take them to Sears or you maybe able to check on line. There is another thing you can do is get a universal garage door opener remote kit...it is a remote and receiver, you hook the receiver to the door button and the remote send a signal to the receiver and opens the door, I have had one for the last 4 years and they work great (they work on any opener) I have a skylink with a wireless key pad.
