Question about Briggs & Stratton Pressure Washer Projectpro Spray Nozzle

1 Answer

I think I added too much oil to my pressure washer. It lost pressure after about 20 minutes, then smoke came our where the exhaust area is. I immediately turned it off. Then I noticed oil dripping from the oil filter. What do you might have happened and what should I do?

Drain the oil until the proper level is reached....let the unit sit for awhile until cool and then remove spark plug and clean it....i think it should be just fine....good luck

3.0 litre V6 turbo diesel Mercedes. 115,000 miles. When it is left on tickover for 10 to 15 mins starts to smoke white/grey smoke from exhausts. After a few minutes of normal driving the smoke stops.

Possible cause is several drops of oil are leaking past the valve guide seals when the vehicle just sits. When it is started the oil begins to burn off in the cylinders and after awhile the smoke disappears. I have always recommended cha going the oil to a synthetic and adding an oil additive called Restore. It comes in a cylindrical can in 4, 6 or 8 cylinder size. Put 1 can in with the new oil. Drive the vehicle on the highway for 45 - 60 minutes. I recommend putting on a few hundred Mrs. The additive restores the valve seals preventing the oil from dripping into the cylinders. Have used it on my customers vehicles for 20 years. Saved them a lot of money from replacing the seals.

White smoke coming from exhaust, need help

White smoke is condensation from a buildup of water from within the exhaust system - if it was blue smoke then it is burning oil ... let car sit for a few minutes and take the dipstick out - wipe it clean - then re-insert dipstick - take it back out and check level against gauge at bottom of dipstick if you think you may have overfilled the oil

What causes Kohler 20 HP engine to smoke off exhaust after start up?

Have you tried pulling the hood off cleaning any oil contamination off the suspected area then start it and watch while it's clean. It seems weird that a valve cover gasket would be the failure after two repair shops looked at it. You may need to look close at the head gasket could possibly being blown forward. I know you said it leaks so I'm assuming there is nothing actually coming from within the motor being blown through the muffler I have seen these motors burn oil heavy on startup than clean up after warm.

Are there any prob buying pressure washers from pawn shops

First things to check is are air filter and exhaust. If there is signs of oil then the unit has been tipped and you will probably need to strip the cylinder head to sort it. Also check engine and pump oil levels and start the machine if you are allowed to. If it starts after a few pulls then you have a good chance of it being ok. White exhaust smoke is bad if constant as it is oil burning. Blue smoke isn't quite so bad as it indicates (probably) rich fuel/air mixture. Puff of white smoke that doesn't stay constant is also a sign that the machine may have been tipped at some time and it is just the oil residue burning of the cylinder head.

Started by Craftsman 2700 PSI , 2.3 GPM Briggs & Stratton Powered Pressure Washer for first time in 9 months. Added new oil, and gas. started but is smoking from muffler and is dripping what appears to...

The first thing I would check would be the oil level, to make sure you didn't put in too much oil. If the oil level is correct, it could be a stuck piston ring, letting oil blow by the piston, and out the exhaust. If this is the case, you are going to have to tear down the engine.

Hope this helps!

Engine will run for 1 minute then shut off with a cloud of white smoke out the exhaust. i remove and cleaned carb. float is free not binding no improvement

This symptom can indicate several problems, white smoke is usually indicating water in the system, as this is air cooled honda motor, therefore it is not coolant, check oil and check if there is water present in oil sump or in fuel tank.

Water from fuel tank can be easy drained, with fuel, replace then as well fuel filter and clean again carby. add about an ounce of methylated spirit adn fill gas to full, start engine and check if problem still present.

If this did not solved the problem, check oil for presence of water.
Water can seep to oil sump through trans, and as water pump is located directly on the shaft, simmer bearings may load water under pressure to the crancase. If necessary, repalce bearings and seals.

Please let me know if this was correct advice, or you did find other reason for that white smoke.

Oil is usually burning bluish, fuel not fully burned is black.

Hope that this will be just condensation in the tank.

Volvo 850 smoke coming from exhaust manifold

Not to worry. Run the engine up to operating temp before jumping to conclusions and let the heat burn off any excess oil. A leaf will not do any damage.Do not let the engine overheat while idling and if the oil light comes on switch off immediately.
The smoke from the exhaust is oil deposited by oily assembly hands just burning off. It should dissipate after about 15 minutes at most.(or 5 miles' drive)

I have a problem regards of mazda 3 2008 we added 4 bottles (4qt) of Formula Shell "Clean engine Formula" SAE 5W-20 And are car started to smoke from the pipe (white smoke)...and started to drag everytime...

It sounds like the engine is over full with oil, the reason it is smoking is because oil is being pushed past the seals into the exhaust. If it is over full you will need to lower it to the proper level and then drive the stuffing out of it to burn off all the oil in the exhaust. Have see that several times at the shop.

Dear number601513: DANGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Adding oil is not going to make the oil pressure build up by adding more. The system is slightly more than a 4 qt system with an oil filter change. By adding oil, you raise the levels in the engine to areas where it is not designed to collect. Consequently, it is prone to leaking and can smoke by picking up oil through the pcv.
The fuel pump has NO relationship to it's oil pressure. The only relationship would be through providing enough fuel to power the engine speed above 600 RPM which would and should be more than adequate speed to drive the oil pump. The oil pump on the VG-30 is located at the front of the engine and is the last component which is installed prior to to installing the timing belt gear. The pump is crank shaft driven, so it is a positive drive unit and not very prone to failure. The oil pickup tube which is bolted to the bottom of the pump, is sealed by an "O" ring. This is a probable place for it to loose prime. The screen at the bottom of the pick up tube could be full of sludge which limits the flow of oil, thus keeping the oil pressure dangerously low. One suggestion prior to condemning the engine oil pressure, is to do a mechanical oil pressure test. You can remove the oil pressure sending unit and screw a mechanical oil pressure guage in it's place. The threads are not metric, but NPT tapered design. You can buy mechanical oil pressure gauge kits relitavely cheap and make a test tool with one. Due to the fact that the oil pressure gauge is electric, they can give misleading readings. If your readings are down in the 8-10 PSI area @ idle this is bare minimum, when you raise the engine speed, the oil pressure should reach 40-60 PSI. Make sure you bleed the air out ot the oil line going to the gauge beause "AIR" compresses and will give you a false reading.
I hope this is informative. Good luck.
PS, I'm the new guy on the block here in "Fixya" if I've helped you out, please write back in to let them know. THANKS>>>>>>>>>9
