Question about Epson Stylus Photo 1290 InkJet Printer

Epson Stylus Photo 1290 InkJet Printer

I have an Epson Stylus Photo 1290 InkJet Printer which I use for sublimation printing. Had for a while now but all of a sudden I cannot print. I turn on the printer the the middle red light flashes alternate with the green light. I use a bulk fill bottle fed ink system and the bottles are full so there is no shortage of ink.

I wondered if there may be a blockage or air blockage or something, any idea how to fix this problem?

    Hi I found this on the web:

    Procedure for 1290 and possibly 890 printers

    1290 printer with green (power / data) and red (ink / paper feed) lights flashing alternately:

    1. Switch off printer with panel switch;
    2. Switch off printer at mains switch - leave off for 20+ seconds;
    3. Hold down roll feed and sheet feed buttons;
    4. Switch on at mains;
    5. Switch on at printer panel;
    6. Continue to hold down roll and sheet feed buttons until both green and red lights flash together in synchronisation, not alternately;
    7. Switch printer off and then, after a few seconds, on again at mains switch;
    8. When red and green lights are both flashing in synchronisation, release the roll and sheet feed buttons;
    9. Press and hold down the ROLL FEED button (the one at the extreme left) and keep it down until the machine finishes whirring, cleaning etc and the green light comes on steady;
    10. Release the roll feed button and all should be well.

    Worked a treat.  Thank you for your help.

    this worked for me but only when i switched it off at the mains exactly as instructed - i tried to do it by pulling out the power cord (i know - but you should see how many wires there are in our office, it took me 1/2 an hour to set it up with it's own socket) anyway, pulling out the cord doesn't work, only switching it on and off at the mains does.

This is a maintenance request. Basically the internal counter has hit it's limit and now requires that the counter is reset and the ink pads are replaced or cleaned.

Ask at if they do a Rescue Kit for your machine. This should include all the goodies you need to get running again. If they have no kit for machine, let me know as I may have an alternative.

What do I have to do if I want to use sublimation ink on Epson stylus photo 1290?Thanks

what you want is not possible. the Epson Stylus Photo 1290 does not use sublimation ink. it is strongly advised to only use genuine Epson ink to keep the print quality of your print head as high as possible.

Epson stylus photo 1290 printing black splodges

Once more have the printer to perform the ink nozzles cleaning.
If you are using a ontinuos ink system, place it at the same level than that of the printer.
With the printer in the "replace carrtidge position", put it OFF and by hand, clean the place at which the cartridge rest.
Good luck and merry christmas

Blue lines all over the printing

Did u clean the print nozzle's as well? If that does not solve your problem, you should try and replace the cartridge. (Colour in case of blue lines and black in case of black lines)
