My Homelite Zipstart weed trimmer will not start. Gas flow seems to be fine, I think I'm not getting any spark. I replaced the spark plug but I'm still not able to start the engine.

Hello rscott6687:

From your Description it Sounds like the Exhaust Port or Muffler is Restricted with Carbon Deposits, the Fuel Lines May be Reversed or the Carburetor Metering Pump Actuator Gap is Incorrectly.
>>The Following is a Basic Instruction File for Doing a Diagnostic on the Engine for this Problem. Any Input is Appreciated.
>>**Remove the Muffler and Make Sure the Exhaust Port is Clear.
>>If it is, then Try to Start the engine with the Muffler Off.
>>If it Starts and Runs Properly, then Clean the Spark Arrestor Screen in the Muffler or Replace the Muffler if Required.
Is the Fuel Line from the Fuel Filter Staying Full of Fuel?
The Carburetor Metering Jet Actuator is Set so the Pump Diaphram Dowl is Just Touching the Actuator Arm. These Components are Located Under the Cover with 4 Small Screws Holdong it to the Carburetor Body.
Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance.
Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Be Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck

Why does my redmax ebz8500 blower start fine and run fine for a few minutes and then bog down and rev back up? The carburetor, air filter, fuel filter, fuel lines and spark plug are all brand new.

Based on the majority of small 2-cycle engines out there, I would suggest rebuilding the carburetor. It's easy to do and kits are usually $10 to $12. Remove the air filter and retrieve the number printed on the carburetor. Then, look on eBay or visit a local small engine repair shop for parts. Remarkably, there are a very small number of carburetors used on a majority of different brands with 2-stroke engines. So, if you buy a kit based on the carburetor number, don't worry if it's not directly referenced to your particular brand of blower.

Sometimes, you can get positive results by partially disassembling a carburetor and cleaning it with spray carburetor cleaner from Walmart or Auto Parts Supply store. But, if you're going to that much trouble, you might as well replace parts as you go. Over time, rubber seals dry out and plastic reed valves leak by. Recently, my chain saw was acting up. I replaced hoses, filters, spark plug, etc. Even flushed the carburetor with cleaner. Nothing helped. But, once the carburetor was rebuilt, it purred like a kitten. I've experienced the same thing with weed-eaters and other engines, too. Fortunately, 2-cycle engines are not complex and usually easy to fix. Good luck!

My husqvarna yth2348 riding mower is havering carb issues not getting fuel

Here are a few tips to look at, I would first check your inline fuel filter to make sure its not clogged up. See Page 26 of the Manual for additional help.

Will not start

1. Out of fuel. 1. Fill fuel tank.
2. Engine not "CHOKED" properly. 2. See "TO START ENGINE" in Operation section.
3. Engine flooded. 3. Wait several minutes before attempting to start.
4. Bad spark plug. 4. Replace spark plug.
5. Dirty air filter. 5. Clean/replace air filter.
6. Dirty fuel filter. 6. Replace fuel filter.
7. Water in fuel. 7. Empty fuel tank and carburetor, refill tank with fresh gasoline and replace fuel filter.
8. Loose or damaged wiring. 8. Check all wiring.
9. Carburetor out of adjustment. 9. See "To Adjust Carburetor" in Service Adjustments
10. Engine valves out of adjustment. 10. Contact an authorized service center/department.

Check for starvation of fuel by installing the good ol' fuel pressure gauge near the carburetor inlet fuel line. I believe the fuel pressure should be around 6 to 8 p.s.i.

Check the Haynes repair for the carburetor rebuild kit installation if necessary for the Toyota 4runner.

How to I set the car carborator on my chainsaw craftsman 358.350080

I must assume you have already disassembled the carburetor and cleaned it and installed a carburetor repair kit. If you have not then it will likely be necessary before adjusting the high speed, low speed needle valves and the idle speed screw. Generally speaking you will need to close both high and low speed needle valves by turning them both clockwise until you feel them bottoming out after cleaning and installing a carburetor repair kit. _NOTE: Do not apply a lot of torque when they bottom out or you could cause damage to the needle valves or seat. From the closed position start by opening/turning the needle valve counterclockwise (CCW) 1 and 1/4 turns open. Turning the needle valve in the counterclockwise (CCW) direction richens the fuel mixture and CW will make it leaner. Once it starts and warms up you will likely need to fine tune it by holding the throttle wide open and adjust the (H) high speed needle valve/jet until the engine it runs smooth.
If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired by a Sears technician. Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations: Sears Home Services .

you need to check compression. sound to me that ether the valves need adjustments or you have cylinder damage causing compression loose when engine warms up. send me the model# of the mower and engine too.

Engine will not pick up fuel

Remove the fuel line (check condition) from the carburetor body, tip the engine up so that the fuel tank is a little higher than the fuel line end--fuel should run out. Does this unit have a primer button? If so, inspect for holes or cracks in the clear button and the condition of the two hoses attached to it. Remove the carburetor from the engine and inspect for a hard or cracked diaphragm and pumper valves (disassemble the carburetor). Clean with spray carburetor cleaner and re-kit it if you found bad parts. Install the H and L mixture screws to CW stops (lightly) and back out to 1-1/2 turns each. This should allow the engine to run. Warm up the engine, pull the throttle full on, and adjust the H screw until the engine just starts running at high speed with cutting line deployed at full operating length. Drop back to idle and adjust L for smooth idle, but still allow the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Adjust idle speed high enough to keep it running.

if you have over 200 hours on this FS 80 then you may need a valve adjustment(yes this 2-stroke has valves). if you wanna try to do it yourself it should be set @ 0.1mm @TopDeadCenter. my advice is take it to any stihl dealer and let them do it. its scheduled maintenance
