Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

Not Receiving I have a gp300 model no P94YCP00D2AA 8 channel UHF which has gone deaf on me. I have checked the speaker which is O.K. It bleeps as normal on power up but the red receive led keeps flashing all the time as if it is receiving an incoming Tx. I have re cloned it which was sucessful but it does not make any difference. It Tx's o.k.

Needs to be reset or fuse blown. Take to repair shop, cover has to be taken off and fuse replaced. You could fix it yourself but the warranty won't be honored. Do it yourself electronic shop should have a replacement fuse, may have to be soldered in place. Repair shop, should cost around $30.00 to $45.00 to fix, price of fuse $4.00 to $6.00. Your choice.

SOURCE: Powered Or Unpowered Subwoofers For Onkyo TX-8511

Greg- Powered subs are better than non-powered subs (also known as passive subs), anyway I see the TX-8511 has no sub pre-out on the back panel, so you need to decide what sub you will use and run from the receivers left and right speakers output into a subwoofers speaker in from speakers then back out to speakers, look at the back of a subwoofer and you will see like 4 sets of speaker hookups 2 in and 2 out, what this does is takes the low end or bass and drops the signal to the subwoofer then takes the mids and highs out to your left and right speakers, unless your regular left and right stereo speakers have large woofers a sub is the way to go.

SOURCE: 4 ohm speakers with 8 ohm receivers

Please check with the manual of your receiver whether it is capable of running 4 ohm speakers.

if yes, then please go ahead, you will not loose any Sound quality. Sound quality will depend a lot on the performace of the speaker as well as the frequency range it can deliver.

If no, please do not connect. Though, you might be able to play and listen to the music, but it will overload your receiver!!

If you are not sure, please let me know the brand and model of your receiver and I can check for you.

Please do rate this solution and thanks for using FixYa!

BPR40 Receiving a static reception when someone is talking

Several things need to be checked. Fully charged battery. Antenna, make certain it s tight and unbroken. Wiggle the antenna while receiving, if reception improves, it is the antenna or the antenna jack. Then wiggle the on/off vol switch, same thing, if reception improves, it is broken or needs to be resoldered. Then I check the speaker. Speakers gather metal particles, as they get more and more, the speaker distorts and it sounds like static. Use a powerful magnet, run it over the speaker grill and see if anything comes out. I put plastic wrap on the magnet for easy cleaning. It could still be a bad speaker. Last, I check programming. All of this is done at our shop regularly and I suspect most radio shops follow the same procedures, maybe in a different order. Post if this helps or not.

Will transmit but will not receive

I have programmed hundreds of these. The radio may be receiving, but the speaker may be muted. If using a hand mic, have the mic "off hook" or ungrounded and try again. Does the front light flash while the radio is receiving? This indicates the radio is "hearing", just not passing the audio to the speaker. Is there something plugged into the audio jack in the back? Let me know. In 20-30 minutes most shops familiar with Vertex will know exactly what is happening.

How to reprogram two way radio, its a motorola gp 339 and its set to 5 channels from when i brought it, can i reset it or reprogram it to normal uhf channels?

In order to reprogram this Motorola GP339 you need to have a programming software, radio interface box and programming cable for this radio then you can read and change frequency in it. To reprogram to UHF channels this radio must be in UHF band. Good luck!

Digital channels

It's possible the stations you have in your area

have switched from UHF to VHF or vise-versa

I had the same problem and have lost one channel completely

You didn't clarify if your using an antenna or

cable qam so I assumed you are using antenna.

Youll need to check your antenna to see if it

supports both UHF vhf if it only supports one

that could be your problem .

go to antennaweb.org it will help you determine

what stations are avalible to you .

GP300 frequency programing

Here is what you would need: RIB (radio interface box), HKN9857 programming cable and HVN9128 programming software. You are correct the software is only capable of running on a DOS box, such as a 286 or 386. The software mentioned is Motorola proprietary and is available to Authorized Motorola dealers by subscription only.

The book also shows a cloning cable HKN9755 as being available. Don't know anymore details on it.

Lastly, the cost of programming to your FCC assigned frequencies would be approx. $15 per radio, and less for cloning like models. It might be less expensive to have the radio programmed by a dealer. Just an FYI.

Best regards

Motorola frequances

Google search indicates that the Motorola GP300 is a portable
walkie-talkie UHF Transceiver. The exact model gets no hits.

The UHF frequency band ranges from 300MHz to 3GHz,
or 1 meter down to 10 centimeter is wavelength.
This includes some analog cellphone bands.

The actual capability of the transceiver
(i.e. The channels or sub-bands) probably depends on
a finite set of crystals installed within the transceiver,
and licensed to a particular end user/agency.

Your first step is to contact Motorola, and to get the
user manual, complete with full specifications.

Once you know, what the capabilities are, you will have
a better idea of what you want you can or want to listen to.

Also be careful not to transmit in somebody else's band
(any band without a license, pretty well), or
you can find yourself in a pile of legal trouble.

Even eaves-dropping on some other person's
conversation may be illegal in some circumstances.

Hope this gets you started

How to tune AWA-Thorn C6337 television

There should be two dials, one is UHF, you need the main dial on U for the UHF channel tuner to work, turn the UHF dial with the main dial on U and if you have a UHF antenna, you should see something if you get a UHF broadcast where you are, the main dial will probably be numbered 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 6a 7 8 9 or something like that, they are VHF channels, should be preset at the factory, but if not, turn the centre of the main dial, you may have to push it in and turn.

In saying all that, i dont know the model, but im pretty damn sure it was the same or simular 63cm AWA Deep Image Colour set that i had from way back in the VERY early 80s. I cant remember that model number though.
