Question about Bosch 24 in. SGS45E02 / SGS45E08 Exxcel Free-standing Dishwasher

Top blade not turning

I have water coming out of top blade but insufficient pressure to turn blade ... consequently top dishes remain unclean. Blade apertures are not blocked neither is strainer in base. Plenty of pressure to bottom blade so assume that pump is ok. Driving me potty!

Re: Top blade not turning

Does it turn freely??

like if you give it a swind does it take about 6 revolutions then slows and stops?

if it does unscrew it (silver screw) and check the holes and washers and screws etc... as they can break perish.. if you dont know what to look for here i a tip!!

go snooping at any respectable white goods store, find the same model that you have and pretend to examin it lol! look at its top arm and see if it mooves as freely as yours!!!!!!

and for same parts etc.. anyhow the point is that if it moves freely then when the pump goes on the water should force it to spin smoothly!

however. get your self some dishwasher cleaner!

for the dishwasher! not the dishes! it is like a drain-o for dishes! it unclogs and un clags the pipes etc...

good luck!

Water coming in dishes not getting cleaned enough.possibly not coming out of the sprayer and spin blade

Look inside the spin blade and see if there is food or paper inside of the spin blade exit holes blocking it from spraying and spinning. Also if the spin blade is not aligned with nozzle which sprays water into the blade it will not work. I have had both happen several times. Sometimes dishes or pans pushing against the spray nozzle will also miss align the spray jet so the water does not get into the spin blade. I have also had the spin blade be completely worn and would not spin creating the same problem you've had so I had to replace it. Hope this helps.

Check if you have at least 120 degree water temperature coming into the dishwasher. Check if the upper rack spray arm is turning during cycle. Does dishwasher sound normal, like you can hear strong water spray inside it?

It wont wash the top of my dishes

If he left the blade and filter off this will cause the the spray arms to get plugged up with residue. Check the holes in the spray arms to make sure they are clear. The link below will show in detail how he took this apart and where you will find the screen and blade.

You should not have to pre wash your dishes, if everything is cleaned and working right in this machine all you should have to do is scrape and load.

My dishes on the top rack are no longer getting clean. I don't think any water is going to the top. The dishes on the bottom get clean but have a soap residue on them.

Whirlpool quietpartner I Dishwasher wont clean anymore.

you need to take the blades that spin out and clean them off they have grime on them, is there water still in the bottom of the dishwasher when done> if so there is a plastic grate in the bottom rear of the dishwasher you need a 1/4 inch nut driver take the cover off and clean the debris out, there is a small stainless steele cutting blade in there be careful, it is to cut up foods that might not be washed off before putting dishes in the washer, also it is pressure that makes the detergent door open make sure you are getting full pressure comming into the waher, if non of this works the pump should be replace or it;s new dishwasher time

Top wand does not spin

You may have a water volume problem.

The water fill sequence on most washers is timed. Insufficient water at the bottom of the washer will cause the pump to cavitate.
Ensure water is filling to just under the heating element.

You can fix this by isolating the water and electricity then remove the fill solenoid. Inside the solenoid is a top hat filter screen. This screen captures sedement.

Once the sedement was removed on my washer the wands turned

My machine also had a check valve on the bottom near the back of the machine that was blocked. The valve needs to work freely in order for the pump to build pressure. The check valve can be removed from the top by turning the assembly counter clock wise.

there is a food shreder located in the pump at the impeller intake, it looks like a round screen with a rotating blade on it, if the blade breaks off then the screen gets cloged and will restrict water flow.

Dishwasher not washing dishes properly

Thanks akubra_lands, it worked for me too on model DW28W. I thought I should elaborate on your answer for anyone else who comes across this while researching the same problem.
The repair is ridiculously simple (takes about 10min) and the only tools needed are 1 philips/posidrive screwdriver and 1 flat blade screwdriver. Assuming you've unplugged it from mains power:
  1. Tip the dishwasher on its right hand side (looking from the front).
  2. Remove 4 screws from the metal base - 2 front and 2 rear (the rear ones have anti-rattle washers on them).
  3. Pull the base away, taking care of the pair of wires leading to the flood indicator float switch which is still attached to the base.
  4. Remove all 4 screws which fasten the solenoid valve to the pipe which leads from the pump upwards to the center of the tank (which feeds the lower spray arm).
  5. Pull the solenoid/valve body off the pipe and you will see it has a whitish plastic flap with a hinge at the top end.
  6. Use the flat blade screwdriver to gently prize open one side of the flap hinge and twist the flap until it is completely free of the valve body. Put the flap to one side.
  7. Replace the valve body, without the flap, and secure all 4 screws.
  8. Reassemble the dishwasher. Done
Now take a moment to admire the handiwork of the engineer who planned the failure of that innocent little plastic flap around 6 months after the expiry of the warranty.
I actually had a repair man come and look at the problem, and yep, right on cue, he told me it needed a new pump motor. $300. When he realised I was on to him he just gave up. So hard for repair people to do an honest day's work these days..
