Connecting a PC to TV with RGB Cable

I bought a RGB cable and I connected my PC and TV. I can't get a signal. I have a Gateway 500s with a Nvidia Ge Force 6200 and Lg 42pG20 tv.

The cable we have is a VGA monitor cable. AWM E101344 style 2919. There are no yellow or red plugs.

  • keith_jacobs May 11, 2009

I found where I can disable my current monitor but I can't find anything about sharing my monitor or monitor 2.

  • keith_jacobs May 11, 2009

I found that I had my video card set up only to allow one display. I changed it and now I have monitor 2 on my settings. I unchecked extend my windows on this monitor and the window closed . Unsure what to do now.

Depending on your computer you should be able to right click on a blamk area og your desk top
and get a menua allowing you to go into your settings
then click on display settings

Hi,

You need to place the

Yellow with Yellow port
Red with Red Port
White with white port

from the gateway 500 to the tv. You should at least get the audio. If by twisting or turning the cable outputs you fail to get any audio or video then you need to check with Dell whether the LG is compatible.

Thanks

    OKie .

There are three possible solutions for this issue:

    • Disable the dual monitor setup. You can do this by following the directions below:

      1. Right click on your desktop and select Properties.
      2. Select the Settings tab.
      3. Select the Monitor labeled 2.
      4. Uncheck the option to Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor.
      5. Click OK.

    • Drag the application/window from the unshared window to the shared window.
    • Click on the Stop Sharing button, then click the sharing button again and select the other monitor. ( LG TV for you ).

I have a toshiba satellite p755, it use to be able to hook up to my HD TV with the HDMI chord but now its not connecting..whats the problem?

Make sure all connections Power ,HDMI and any other connecting leads have secure dust free connections also check each lead for any kinks / bends .
Connecting a Toshiba Satellite Laptop to a TV is an ideal way to enjoy videos, photos and other media on the laptop on a much larger screen.
Satellite Laptops can be connected to TVs using VGA, S-Video and even HDMI, though the TV has to have compatible inputs as well.

Connect the RGB cable or S-video cable to an open input on the TV.
Depending on the type of TV, it may or may not have a RGB input.
S-video may have to be used instead.
Connect the 1/4 inch to RCA Y-cable into the TV using the same input as the VGA or S-video cable.
Connect the other end of the VGA or S-video cable and the audio cable into the laptop.
The video ports are on the sides of the laptop.
The audio cable should go into the headphone jack of the laptop.

Hello

With either the PC IN or HDMI connection, you can watch

your computer's display on the TV and hear the sound from the
TV's speakers.

When connecting a PC to the PC IN terminal on the TV, use an
analog RGB (15-pin) computer cable and a PC audio cable.

To use a PC, set the monitor output resolution on the PC

before connecting it to the TV. The following signals can be
displayed:

Format Resolution V. Frequency

VGA 640 × 480 60Hz

SVGA 800 × 600 60Hz
XGA 1024 × 768 60Hz

Other formats or non-standard signals will not be displayed

correctly.

Note:

The PC audio input terminals on the TV are shared with the
HDMI-1 analog audio input terminals
Some PC models cannot be connected to this TV.
OK.

I suggest you wait until the TV arrives before getting too concerned with which cable you may need. The instruction manual that comes with the TV will explain exactly what kind of cable you will need and what types of signals it is compatible with.... Those cables are not cheap (unless you GET a really cheap one, which I would recommend against) and trying to decide now without all of the parts and pieces in place is futile.
