Long storage, will not start

The radio SONY CDX-4180R has been in storage for a long time and when installed in the car it will nor start/turn on. Is there a backup battery or something that has ran out?

Used the existing wiring in the Audi but the yellow one was, as suggested, not powerd. Connected it temporarily to the red one and i worked fine,

    Thanks Bosse

There is no back up battery. Sounds like an installation error. Long term storage shouldn't affect a radio in any way. Check that there is voltage being supplied to the unit.

there are two "live" wires, red to battery and yellow to ignition live, are they both connected?
also there will be a security code to enter before you use it.

How do I get my radio to work? All I hear is static and I just installed my sony xplood deck. My antena goes up and down every time i turn my stereo on but radio isnt working

Plug in the antenna jack into the antenna hole in back of radio. Depending on the car you may need an antenna adapter. Cars that need antenna adapters are VW's, Nissans, New Honda's.

CDX-CA680- Cd player not working,

You are probably making the same mistake I did. The CD should be inserted BEHIND the front of the radio in the slot provided, press open on the front of the radio and all will be revealed! The CD trays underneath the radio are for storage only! Hope this solves the problem for you.

you need to remove the radio and swap the red wire for the yellow wire and vice versa, they have bullet connectors to allow you to do this, basically the permanent live and the ignition live are the wrong way round.
